Explore Buenos Aires' fondness for puertas cerradas (closed-door restaurants) during an evening at this private loft in Palermo Soho. Arrive at an address given to you upon booking to find an unmarked door. Ring the bell, give the name on your reservation, and the staff will buzz you in. Step into a modern loft and be seated with an intimate group of fellow travelers for your asado experience.
Meet your host, Chef Luis, and learn about asado, an important Argentine cultural tradition of eating barbecued meat, sipping wine and socializing with friends. Check out the parrilla, or grill, and hear about the carefully chosen ingredients and dishes from Chef Luis. Ask questions of your host or step onto the loft's deck to sip wine and admire the stunning views of Buenos Aires.
Start your meal with the traditional picada, a meat and cheese platter, before moving on to the salad course. Next, enjoy achudas, another type of grilled appetizer that typically includes chorizo. Cut into your juicy 12-ounce (350-gram) Argentine steak, cooked to your liking, with a side of garlic mashed potatoes. Save room for a decadent dessert. Each course is paired with Argentine wine like Mevi, Familio Blanco, Richardi Fazio Menegazzo and Carinae.
Menu:
• Picada: salami, bread and cheese
• Mixed salad
• Achuras: sweetbreads, cheese, pork flank steak, blood sausage and chorizo
• Steak and garlic mashed potatoes
• Dessert (varies daily)
• Wine pairings
