Meet your guide, who will be dressed in period costume, on Edinburgh's Royal Mile in the early afternoon. Following a brief introduction, set off on foot to explore the narrow cobbled lanes and wynds that weave through the history-steeped Old Town.
Delve into the hidden closes and courtyards as your guide points out places associated with hauntings and mysteries. Listen to tales of Edinburgh's poor and the dark days of around 300 years ago, when the Scottish capital was a very different place to that of today.
Next, follow your guide into the city’s famous underground vaults, located beneath the historical South Bridge, just a few steps from the Royal Mile. Walk through the darkened chambers that housed store rooms, workshops, and slums in the 18th and 19th centuries, and hear chilling tales of gruesome bodysnatching, robberies, murders, and ghosts.
Watch and listen for the spirits said to still lurk in this eerle network, and see pedestrians walk unknowingly overhead through a section of glass roof.
After about an hour, your tour then ends in the Old Town when your guide departs.
