Begin your 4-hour tour with a late afternoon pickup from your Cairo hotel, and travel by air-conditioned vehicle to the start point, near the Giza pyramids.
Arrive at a desert camp where the horses and camels are ready and saddled up. Then, choose to make your trip either on horseback or in time-honored Egyptian style — on a camel.
After a safety briefing and riding instructions, settle on your steed, and set off across the sands behind your guide, who will accompany you the whole way. As you travel, relax into the overwhelming peace and beauty of the northern Sahara Desert, the vast wilderness that fringes Giza and the pyramids.
Head deeper into the desert over low dunes, and ride up to two high points that offer panoramic views of the pyramids. Watch as the fading rays illuminate the three pyramids in an orange glow, and capture photos or videos of the timeless scene.
Then, descend from the viewpoints and make your way back to the Bedouin-style desert camp. Here, savor a tasty Egyptian-style dinner with a friendly Bedouin family, absorbing the atmospheric desert setting as you eat and relax.
Your tour then concludes with a hotel drop-off.

After flight delays, I arrived to my hotel a few hours late making me an hour and a half late for the camel safari. I was worried I might have missed it but I had the hotel desk call the company for me to check. Outstandingly, the tour guides were still at the hotel waiting for me even though it was much later than the start time, so I still got to go. The guide and driver were friendly and welcoming as well as the caretaker of the camels. The camel ride starts on a sort of rubble road leading to the dessert, so the build up to entering the Sahara Dessert and what felt like an Arabian night movie scene was really quite impressive. Making our way past others riding horses and camels and even some distant ATVs to the top of a sand dune looking over the Great pyramids was an absolutely amazing experience. The sun was pretty much set by the time we made it to the top but there was a glow of lights illuminating the pyramids even in the approaching dusk. The guide had a wrapped dinner he served me on a blanket at the top of the sand dunes consisting of some chicken, beef, veggies, pita and tahini sauce that was quite tasty. It was very nice that the guide sat with me and provided light by his phone and spoke enough English to have a chat about Egypt, family, and how to speak some Arabic. Overall, I had a great experience and would definitely recommend this adventure. It certainly was a great start to my trip through Egypt and I am so appreciative that they waited for me so I could have this experience.

Our driver was great, our camel tour was beautiful and our guide was very friendly. The dinner was not as described. Our dinner involved pulling precooked, aluminum foil wrapped chicken and mixed grill out of the side saddle of a camel. I am not a germophobe, but this was a concern. The views are beautiful, the desert is a wonderful escape form the chaos of Cairo.

My dream was to ride a camel to the pyramids. Most tours just offer a picture on a camel in front of the pyramids. I knew I wanted more than that. This tour was perfect. Our tour guide and all the camel caretakers were fun to be with. Our ride lasted about an hour total. Afterwards, we went to a restaurant in Giza near the Sphinx for dinner. It was very good Egyptian food. It was everything I had hoped for. Definitely worth it!!

Oick-up went well. Animals did not look well treated. Booked for three people, only two Camels showed, third had to be brought in. 15min ride on dirt road with burning trash on the roadside before getting to Sahara. Guides sat on Camels with us girls. Very uncomfortable. Dinner would have been in restaurant not in Sahara as advertised. We aborted the tour and went back to hotel.

Amazing camel ride before sunset behind the pyramids with spectacular views of Cairo.
Dinner of grilled chicken in modern restaurant with glass facade overlooking the Sphinx and pyramids at sunset.
A real surprise and well worth doing
