Experience famous Loch Ness and the ruins of Urquhart Castle on this 2-hour tour from Clansman Harbour, just outside of Inverness. Climb aboard an open-air boat for a tranquil cruise to Urquhart Castle – provided you don’t meet the Loch Ness monster along the way!  Tour the historic medieval castle, learn about its turbulent and bloody history, and enjoy scenic views of the Scottish countryside before returning to the harbor.

  • 2-hour Loch Ness sightseeing cruise and Urquhart Castle visit from Clansman Harbour
  • Marvel at the incredible natural beauty of Loch Ness and the surrounding greenery
  • Relax on the comfortable cruise boat, taking a seat inside or on the open-air top deck
  • Cruise across Loch Ness, keeping an eye out for Nessie, the Loch Ness Monster
  • Enjoy one hour of free time to explore the emotive ruins of Urquhart Castle
Choose a morning or afternoon start time for your 2-hour tour of the Loch Ness area, then head to the cruise launch point in Clansman Harbour (10 miles from Inverness). From here, board the open-air boat and stroll the deck as you cross the mysterious and majestic Loch Ness. Enjoy sweeping views of the lake and the surrounding hills, and keep an eye out for the mythical Loch Ness monster, Nessie.

Your 30-minute cruise on the lake’s dark waters brings you to the medieval ruins of Urquhart Castle. You’ll have an hour to independently explore the site with its gory history of warfare and rebellion. Before or after you tour the ruins, head to the visitor center to learn about the historic figures that inhabited or invaded this site such as King Edward I in the 13th century and MacDonald Lord of the Isles during the 15th and 16th centuries. Hear about the site’s architectural history, and the key role it played in the Scottish fight for independence. Finish with look at some fascinating medieval artifacts and stunning views of Loch Ness from the veranda.

After an hour, head back to the boat for the return cruise to Clansman Harbor. Your tour concludes here.

We used viator to book this cruise during a recent trip to Scotland and all in all I'm happy that we did the Loch Ness Cruise because i feel it's one of those When in Rome experiences however the cruise itself is kind of hokey- the audio was all prerecorded and played over a loudspeaker. The castle itself was very pictueresque however not all that terribly informative. All-in-all I'm happy we did this however I wouldn't strongly recommend this to anyone else. Also if you're debating between Loch Ness or anothe destination in Scotland i'd probably pick the other option.

The cruise was ok. They herded lots of people on the boat and drove slowly to the castle. Dropped us off for one hour and then came back for us. Glad it didn't cost much as it was nothing special.

Le tour est bien et la visite est intéressante. Mais le départ du tour est éloigné de tout et est accessible uniquement en voiture ou en bus. Il n'est donc pas possible de se promener au bord du lac. Dommage

unfortunately it rained heavily all day so that affected our rating of the trip. It was not easy to find the starting point. it would have been better to have a sign on the road.
