Wonderful kayaking experience

Fantastic! Matt did a wonderful job of arranging everything with the kayaks and showing us some amazing wildlife (sea stars, sea urchins, eagles, and seals). Loved the beer and snacks afterward. Super fun and can’t wait to go out again.

Ketchikan Kayaking

We had a great time on the Ketchikan Kayaking tour. Our guide was a young man native to that area and had a wealth of knowledge. The tour started off with a lot of excitement as we saw jumping salmon, harbor seals, bald eagles and other wildlife. We paddled for quite a while, so we got a pretty good workout. Near the end, the excitement was diminished and it was becoming a bit more laborious due to the distance we had to go to get back to the dock. But quickly everything changed when our guide was radioed with an update that a Humpback whale was just spotted in the harbor. We all raced over to the area just in time to view it breaching a few times and one was 20ft in front of our kayak! What a sight........and what an experience!! I would highly recommend this excursion.

An Awesome Experience: Kayaking Clover Pass!

We met Louis at the Ketchikan Kayak office across the street from Beth 3 of cruise ship dock. The offices were clean and welcoming and all staff present were too. Louis drove us, and another couple on an Eco-Bike tour, to the Clover Pass location where the fun begins. We suited up for the Kayak Eco-Tour and paddled away with Grayson our guide. We were immediately impressed by Grayson's knowledge of Clover Pass. Grayson led us to Light Island first to warm us up, as we aren't regular kayakers. At Light Island Grayson filled us in about the different boats we were seeing in the pass as well as sea life we might also see. Next we kayaked to next bigger island where we had a ton of fun. We saw two types of Jelly-Fish, seals came swimming up to us to check us out, then more seals swam towards us. Way Kool! Grayson was knowledgeable on the different trees and fauna. He pointed out edible berries and we tased a few. Very enjoyable, Then we kayaked to a point to search for whale spouts. No luck, but Grayson pointed out other sights and the kayaking experience was refreshing. We returned to Clover Pass office where we saw a huge sea lion nearby and that was interesting as Sea Lions are very, very big up close! We changed out of our rain suits and enjoyed some salmon dip outdoors with the other couple back from he Eco-Bike Tour. They enjoyed their tour very much too, A short ride back to the ship dock, and Louis kindly dropped us off at the Totem Museum where we walked along the creek, watching the Salmon swim up-stream, down to Creek Street, Ketchikan. A pleasant 15 minute walk back to the cruise ship. This was the best stop and tour on our 7-day cruise adventure. I highly recommend this tour and company. The guides are safe and knowledgeable. We were informed and had a great time! Thank you to both Louis and Grayson!

Fun day on the water with Ketchikan Kayak!

Our experience with Ketchikan Kayak was so much more interesting, beautiful, informative, fun and easy than we expected. Two of our party had never kayaked before and the others were complete novices but the guidance and instruction from the tour leaders was so clear and simple that we all just got on the water and started kayaking! All the staff were friendly, helpful and full of information about the region's wildlife, natural history and quirkiness. We had a great day!!!

Wonderful wildlife, great service, and lots of fun!

My two early 20's sons and I greatly enjoyed our recent experience kayaking with Ketchikan Kayak. The service, knowledge, food, and fun provided by both Lou and Grayson were all top-notch. Would definitely use them again. I booked the 4 hr "Eco-Tour" via Viator, which was really easy to do. We ended up just being a group of four, which made the tour all that much more special. We saw lots of animals up close, which was really cool--- including eagles (both juveniles and mature), seals, and other birds I'm forgetting names of, etc. Lou was very knowledgeable and informative about the flora and fauna so we learned a lot of interesting stuff. I specifically picked Ketchikan Kayak because of their good reviews and because I didn't want to be part of the huge masses, typically found with cruise ship excursions (we were on a cruise, but I booked all excursions on my own, not through the cruise ship). Ketchikan Kayak's location was a short, easy walk from the ship. From there, they promptly transported us to the water (maybe 15 min van ride). After the tour, we were treated to some yummy snacks and sodas/local beers, which really hit the spot (thanks, Grayson!). Then we were transported back to our starting point, where we were able to explore local restaurant(s) and shopping before getting back on the ship. The only thing that could have made it even better was if it hadn't rained for about 1/2 hour of the tour (... but who can control the weather?, and in Ketchikan, it rains a lot, apparently!); it really wasn't much of a damper though, as Ketchikan Kayak provided helpful gear for those who wanted it (rain jackets and pants) to layer over our clothes. This worked well and minimized any negative effect of the rain. Highly reco!

We arrived in the morning to a warm greeting from the guides. After a short van ride we were kitted out and taught the basics of a kayak. We then spent a most informative morning observing wildlife in and out of the crystal clear water. Our guide made the day most interesting together with a great sense of humor. A wonderful day and a great company to support. Excellent experience.

Headed out on the bay to see the sights. Very small group - 2 kayaks plus the guide. Guide was terrific. It was high tide so the shoreline was not exposed but we saw plenty. Eagle nest and eagle, baby Harbor seal and mom, plus a group of Harbor seals hidden in a protected cove. All in all, a fun adventure.

What an amazing adventure!! Ryan and Simon were wonderful tour guides and so knowledgeable. We actually encountered 5 hump back whales that were bubble feeding while we were kayaking. Got to follow them around a bit! Weather was perfect and we thoroughly enjoyed this trip. Highly recommend this group to anyone. Very personable and wonderful group of guys. Also offered the bike tours, but we opted for the kayaking!
