Why Travelers Choose This Tour
This express tour packs all of the natural highlights of southern Ireland into one hassle-free trip.
I’ve booked many tours through Viator and have never been disappointed. This tour however was disappointing start to finish, the tour stated to be at the meeting location at 9:15, no one from the tour company showed up until almost 9:30. When the tour guide finally got us on the bus we were further delayed by him having to go get a coffee for himself and the driver. The guide Jim was sarcastic and unprofessional. I am all for jokes and laughter but repeatedly being condescending and sarcastic was just just off putting. The sites were wonderful but the driver never seemed to know where he was going and took a few wrong turns. It was uncomfortable and unsettling. Then towards the end of the tour as we were being taking to the Bunratty castle the guide left for another tour. We were never greeted with another guide. Poor and very disappointing experience. I will never do another Paddywagon tour again.
The trip itself was lovely, with a wonderful driver/guide, who regaled us with insightful information and charming Irish humor. The additional stops broke up the monotony of driving back to Limerick more than add any sites to see. 20 minutes at the Burren is adequate, but 20 minutes at Bunratty Castle seemed a bit meager. We basically had time to go to the bathroom and snap a quick photo. Lunch in Doolin was quite good, but there isn't really time to do much else there.
Another irksome bit. Our booking had our departure time listed as 9:15. We overslept and nearly killed ourselves getting to the pick-up point on time. The bus, however, ended up being about 15 minutes late, then the passengers who had boarded in Cork were allowed to disembark and go get coffee and snacks at a shopping center across the street, so we ended up not actually leaving until around 9:45, which was kind of annoying.
To his credit, the driver noticed that my wife and I were the last on board, and would likely get bad seats. Upon leaving the Cliffs, he pulled us aside and alerted us to another couple who were changing buses in Doolin, that we might get their seats for the return journey.
All in all, it was that kind of trip: a few annoying bits, but mostly made up for by the experience of the cliffs themselves and the charming driver.
This tour was fantastic. I highly recommend it because you learn the history of the area that you may not know if you tour on your own. You can simply drive up, park and pay if you want to go on your own, but I cannot say enough great things about the tour and guide. He was very knowledgeable and helpful. Advice: check the weather - duh- but seriously. It is a lot colder on the cliffs because of the wind - so dress warmly, otherwise you'll be buying hats and scarf from the lovely gift shop. Also leave time for the exhibit on sight. It was excellent. Great tour and highly recommend it!
A beautiful sunny day at the Cliffs provided some amazing scenery. We were blessed with good weather on the day after Ophelia had hit the area. I would have preferred a little more time at the Cliffs, but thats what I say about all the places I really enjoy. This is one of the must see places in Ireland.
The places we saw were fabulous, everything we hoped for. However, the driver was not really a tour guide and seemed to struggle with how to fill in the time driving. He could have just played Irish music and let us look around, but he talked about a lot of nothing, maybe 7 sentences of Irish history, and sang to us. I have taken many other Viators in other countries and some in Dublin. I never went with such a large group as on this big bus. I prefer van size tours or a small bus. When there was a lunch stop, it was rushed and crowded so people at the end of the line had 10 minutes to eat as opposed to the people who got in line first. Viator should let people know the size of the tour group so people who don't mind large bus groups could choose that, and people who prefer van size tours could choose those.
Excellent tour and great scenery.
Tour guide dropped us off about 3 blocks from where we were picked up and we had to walk to the area we parked our car ...especially in a strange city and certainly not within sight of any familiar landmarks. Guide said hen couldn't drop us off at the same location he picked us up but when we called the tour operator we were told pick up and drop off was at the same location. Good thing the tour itself was good.
Wonderful day ! Weather turned out great! The bus Driver Rory was entertaining and funny! Enjoyed the Cliffs and the history and commentary ! Weather turned really bad on the drive back, but Rory was exceptional in taking care in driving. Felt very safe.
