Your private full-day shore excursion to Marseille and Cassis begins with morning pickup from your cruise terminal. Meet your guide and board the luxury minivan for the scenic ride through the Marseille-Cassis calanques region. Admire the rugged beauty of this route as it crosses rocky mountain terrain en route to the seaside town of Cassis.
Your first stop is Cape Canaille, perched atop France’s highest sea cliffs. Here, you’ll get stunning views of the Côte d’Azur, the Gardiole mountain range and the Gulf of Cassis. Next head down into Cassis village, an ancient Provençal fishing town that once served as a Roman maritime route. Wander the colorful, sun-baked streets, explore artisan shops and squares, or take a 45-minute cruise (additional expense) to view the region’s three famous calanques, wild limestone cliffs that line the Mediterranean shoreline.
Afterwards, return to Marseille for an exciting city tour. From your seat, admire the gorgeous Notre-Dame de la Garde, a Neo-Byzantine Catholic basilica that rises from Marseille’s highest point. Catch sweeping views of Marseille’s cityscape, the sparkling Mediterranean Sea and the gorgeous Chateau d’If, the island fortress featured in The Count of Monte Cristo. Stop by the centuries-old Abbey of St Victor before returning to port.
Your 7-hour tour ends with drop-off at your cruise terminal.

We really liked this trip and our driver was very knowledgeable. We went to cassis which was amazing we were taken to a an area where you can see the ocean that part was amazing we also went to a winery where we tried some rose wine that was the highlight of the trip to Cassis and overall was a really really good tour we really enjoyed the driver he was more like a guide who made us in a feel very comfortable all throughout the the tour. highly recommended.

Our tour guide Leo was great. He made the day wonderful. Personally, I wasn't impressed by Marseille, but that wasn't his fault. We had to much time in Cassis. I would recommend making this a little shorter day.

We were met at cruise terminal by Julien.....there were 6 people in our group. Julien is very knowledgeable about the area and also a very pleasant man -- all of us enjoyed the company of Julien. He even went out of his way to get a postcard mailed!!!
Highly recommend.

this tour was amazing, but it was three years ago, so it is difficult to recall the details. The tour guide was well informed.

Our guide was terrific , he was very knowledgeable about the Marseille where he lived. He took us to all the sights we asked to
see and then some of the sights that were often the beaten path . He then took us on a tour to Cassis which was a beautiful area.
He recommended a fantastic restaurant for lunch and then we took a trolley ride of the area. We took the tour with another couple who was an avid photographer who took wonderful pics and sent them to me after we got back to the USA.
All in all could not have asked for a better tour or guide

Good tour but felt a little rushed..other than that, interesting explanation of Marseille.

Our driver William was at the pier on time to pick us up,he was very knowledgeable in the history of the area,he took us to the lookout were we took was fantastic photos of the city, after that we visited a church that was 600 years old and still operational, and untouched since being built. You start to wonder how they built these buildings in those days with minimal tools at their disposal. After that we went to the town of Cassis where we took a boat ride to the small fiords, also there were very high cliffs that surrounded us as we were cruising to the different passages, there was a small fee for the boat ride but it was worth it.After that we went to a restaurant for lunch by the water and we took our driver with us to share lunch. He was very good in giving us a good description of the area and its history. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and would recommend this tour very highly. These tours are a bit more expensive but when you book from the ship you have 48 people to put up with so you get to see less, think about it,you pay more you get more.

This was an amazing excursion! Jeremy picked us up right at the cruise port and took us to see Notre Dame de la Garde, then to Cassis and Cap Canaille. Cassis is a charming town, we chose to eat lunch and wander the shops rather than take the boat ride through the Calanques. We also enjoyed the Abbey of St. Victor in Marseille. For 2 euros you can go down in the crypt below the abbey which is quite fascinating! Jeremy was very accommodating, giving us time to stop for a cafe au lait!

This is one of the best days on the whole trip. Our guide loves Marseille and it showed. We stopped for some local sights on the way to Cassis. The overview from the Calanques park was stunning. In Cassis, we opted to hang out a couple hours at a harborfront cafe and absorbed the sun, locals, and great food and wine. Our guide said we opted for the do nothing and do it well tour of Cassis. We did. Day was good for the soul. Back into town for a tour of the high hill cathedral. Great vistas again and the conclusion to a great day. Thanks Mark for nice day in the south of France.
