What To Expect
Your tour begins in the middle of Moab where you’ll meet your guide, and board the comfortable 4WD vehicle for the 5-mile (8-km) drive to the park. Once inside Arches National Park, your off-roading adventure begins when you leave the road by Doc Williams Point.
More than 2,000 giant sandstone arches are scattered throughout the park, which is the largest collection of naturally occurring arches found anywhere in the world. You’ll also find pinnacles, fins, and rocks along this epic landscape of rich red earth sculpted by time.
If some of this landscape looks familiar, it’s probably because you’ve seen it in the movies. Popular films like Thelma and Louise were shot in portions of the park, as were scenes for Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.
If you choose the evening tour, there’s a chance you could see a fiery sunset illuminate the red rocks. Once the sun is below the horizon, stars sparkle in one of the darkest skies in the country.
Towards the end of the tour, you’ll leave the park via an old cowboy trail. It’s here where you’ll stop to see fossilized dinosaur tracks stamped into the earth.
Finally, after several hours of backcountry exploring in the southern Utah terrain, your tour finishes in the center of Moab from the same spot where it began.
Yancey who was our guide and driver was excellent in describing the habitat and the damage caused by walking or driving of path. We had an adventuresome ride on difficult 4X4 roads in a comfortable and air conditioned Land Cruiser. Yancey showed us tower arch that is only seen by those wishing to take a 4X4 or a very long hike. as well as the marching man area. We stopped several times to get out for taking pictures or getting closer to some of the attractions. Yancey offered different options as to what we wanted to do.
we went with MC through the back entrance so didn't deal with the entrance crowds and he took us on a few arches that the day visitor woudn't know about. He was really knowledgeable about the park and was alot of fun!
Thought we would see more of the actual Arches park. Spent most time back country on the 4x4 (which was very fun) but drove (quickly) by most of the more notable attractions at front of park only on way ou (for example did not go to the windows section at all). Very good tour group and organization. Might have been our fault in not understanding the tour.
Larry the tour guide was friendly, helpful and informative! The scenery was awesome!! The only drawback was the size of the vehicle. It was a little bit of a close fit for the three adults in the back seat of a Jeep.
Tony was a fun guide, knowledgeable, easy going, patient, accomodating, fun, and gave more than our money's worth. His detailed knowledge of the area phenominal.
Our Navtec 4x4 morning experience was awesome. Our tour driver was great and very knowledgeable. He took us to many of the arches that can only be seen by going off road. It was fantastic.
We did the half-day tour with Brandon. Loved every bit of it. Seeing the back country with a capable guide and driver was the only way we would've done it. Highly recommend the tour. Great value.
