Choose between a morning or an afternoon departure, then begin with pickup at your Panama City hotel, or make your way to a centrally-located meeting point. Get your bearings at the first stop of the day, the summit of Ancon Hill: this is the highest point in Panama City, and has views to the Bridge of the Americas and the Pacific entrance to the Panama Canal.
Continue to Miraflores Locks to watch ships transiting through the two-step lock system, then tour the visitor center and museum, which includes a movie on the history and construction of the Panama Canal. Explore local culture at an artisan market on Avenida Balboa, where you’ll find handicrafts and souvenirs from around the country, then enjoy a short break for lunch or dinner (own expense).
Drive to the tip of the Amador Causeway, whose four tiny islands have views back towards downtown Panama City and the coastline. Make your final stop in UNESCO-listed Casco Viejo, Panama’s Old City, and see historic architecture that dates back to colonial times. After your time in Casco Viejo, this tour concludes with drop-off at your place of departure.
