Overview

Take a partial transit cruise on the Panama Canal and journey through the Miraflores Locks. Marvel at this incredible feat of engineering as your ship is raised up to 54 feet (16 meters), enabling Pedro Miguel's lake to fill the chambers where the vessel is locked. With this half-day trip, enjoy Panama City sights and travel along Amador Causeway during the drive from your hotel.
  • Panama Canal partial sightseeing cruise
  • Enjoy the opportunity to cruise down the Panama Canal
  • Travel through the famous Miraflores Locks
  • Great tour for history and engineering buffs
  • Hotel pickup and drop-off included
This partial transit cruise through the Miraflores Locks takes you into one of three lock systems used along the Panama Canal — an experience not to be missed! The canal’s construction is considered one of the largest and most challenging engineering projects ever undertaken before it was opened in 1914, enabling efficient passage between the Pacific and Atlantic oceans.
After hotel pickup in the morning, you’ll travel toward La Playita pier on an approximate 1.5-hour drive through Panama City. Journey along the Amador Causeway (Calzada de Amador), a man-made network of four small islands near the Pacific entrance to the Panama Canal. Enjoy breathtaking views of the canal and Panama City skyline before boarding your vessel.
Cruise for approximately 60 minutes along the Panama Canal until reaching the Miraflores Locks. Depending on the number of boats present on your date of travel, you'll most likely have to wait a short while before it’s your ship’s turn inside the locks, but the scene before you is worth it. Enjoy great photo ops as you watch vessels traveling through Miraflores.
You’ll be amazed as your ship is raised up to 54 feet in a two-step process while water from the lake fills the lock’s chambers. Once the process is finished, continue cruising to the Pedro Miguel Locks before arriving at the Gamboa pier.
Here, disembark to re-board the coach for the return transfer to your Panama City hotel.
Please note: A minimum of two people per booking is required.

Just be aware that there may be delays due to the ship traffic on the canal. Timing is not guaranteed.

I had a big headache with this trip because of lock of communication from the local trip organizers.I tried to confirm our pick up on January 3 nd was told to call 24 hours before my trip.As my trip was on the January 7 th I called several times for pick up confirmation but now body pick up the phone.Viator customers service was also unable to reach them. Finally I sent an e-mail and got response after 6 hour.I feel that this is not a professional way to tret your customers!!!

JC and his team from Canal Bay Tours was awesome. There are uncontrollable situations due to canal schedules so plan to wait a lot!! But JC (John Carlo) made it fun. I recommend lots of sun block and just enjoy your afternoon. It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity.

This is something you must see while visiting Panama. You get to travel thru canal in a ferry boat with a group of people and admiring simple mechanics of Panama locks in person. Great tour, loved it.

This is a smooth running machine and worth every penny. Exceptional tour guide the entire time. Food was good for cruise food. The canal and history is just off the hook. This is a really great company. Excellent boat, very efficient hotel pickup in a very nice van. A very good experience if you want to see the canal. Staff is the best!

My wife and I had booked this day trip as it was always something she had wanted to experience. Unfortunately she could not come due to her mother’s illness. My son in law took her place and now understands why my wife wanted the experience. The history of the canal construction and the invaluable lock statistics made the visual journey well worthwhile. Seeing ships pass through the locks with only inches to spare is incredible. I would definitely recommend anyone taking advantage of the experience, much better to do it, rather than watching someone else do it.
