Meet your guide outside the impressive Saint Lazare train station in central Paris to begin your Art Nouveau walking tour. Head to bustling Boulevard Haussmann in the 9th arrondissement and admire the imposing facade of the Galeries Lafayette — widely considered Paris’ finest department store. Listen as your guide describes the architectural fashions which shaped this imposing building, then step inside to be wowed by the towering stained-glass dome ceiling and gilded balconies.
Continue onward to the Palais Garnier — Paris’ world-famous opera house — and marvel at the building’s spectacular structure and ornate stonework. Built in the late 19th-century, the Palais Garnier is considered as much a symbol of Paris as the Eiffel Tower or Notre Dame Cathedral and its beauty continues to captivate visitors to this day.

After two hours admiring Art Nouveau architecture in Paris’ 8th and 9th arrondissements, your tour concludes on Boulevard Haussmann.
Our guide was fabulous! She has a great knowledge and appreciation for the wonderful architecture around Paris. She showed us gorgeous pieces of art and architecture that were visible to thousands every day as they pass thru the train stations, eat in the cafes and shop in the stores--yet never really see them. She helped us to see and truly appreciate the beauty.
The tour was amazing. Able to visit some secret and stunningly beautiful places of this famous city. The guide knows the city very well and tells rich historical backgrounds that we visited. Especially like the gorgeous ancient bank that is still in use.
We absolutely loved this tour and the guide it was above our expectations , in 2 hrs we got a great feel of Paris and some of the beautiful buildings wonderful department stores !!
We would recommend this as a must do if visiting but do it on arrival so you get a feel for this part of Paris should be on the must do list
Solene, my guide and I began our tour by going into the Gare Saint Lazare where she explained its special features.
In Mollard's, a traditional Parisian brasserie, we enjoyed coffee and conversation.
On Boulevard Haussmann we saw two examples of designer shopping combined with art nouveau architectural styles. Printemps and Galeries Lafayette have rooftop viewing areas and glass domes.
We finished our tour by visiting a bank. What a building!
The tour changed how we saw Paris. We started by learning about the architecture of the train station. Then we went to a beautifully preserved art nouveau brasserie. As we enjoyed a cup of coffee, Solene, our fabulous tour guide, pointed out the art nouveau elements that surrounded us. We then ascended to see spectacular glass domes at the top of two art nouveau buildings. Our guide took us behind the scenes to see how they were built. We climbed up even further and were rewarded by a breathtaking rooftop view of Paris. As we soaked in the views Solene pointed out architectural hightlights around the city. Solene was everything you want in a tour guide: knowledgeable, engaging, and conversational. She answered our questions not only about architecture but also about the best places to eat and about secret places away from tourists and crowds. If you are interested in architecture or even if you're not don't hesitate to book this tour!
This tour was great! We saw many things we never would have in own. Our guide was knowledgable, friendly, and flexible. I love the rooftop views-we would have completely missed this view of Paris. A great way to learn-highly recommend.
Solène was a wonderful guide for les arts nouveau. She made the area come alive like as if we were arriving for the World Exposition. The hidden gems in the area are breath taking. You would never guess that the large glass domes and the intricate tile work were just around the corner. Beautiful!
