If you want to see Mont St.-Michel on a day trip from Paris, don’t waste time worrying about train schedules or renting a car. Just book this round-trip transportation by comfortable coach that gives you four hours of free time on the island to explore independently.

You’ll leave central Paris in the early morning (departing from 2 rue des Pyramides) for the drive through the Normandy countryside. When you arrive at Mont St.-Michel, a UNESCO World Heritage-listed village perched on a small rocky island, your driver will give you a brochure with information about sights to see, and then you’re free to wander on your own.

Most visitors make their way up to the top of the hill to visit the Benedictine abbey, once a pilgrimage site during the Middle Ages. Legend says the Gothic abbey was founded in the eighth century when the bishop of Avranches received a visit from the Archangel Michael in a dream. The copper statue of Michael slaying a dragon that crowns the abbey is said to symbolize the victory of good over evil. Other features of the abbey to see include the refectory, cloister, and ramparts.

Make your way back downhill into the village to check out shops, eateries, and museums that line the narrow lanes, or wander to a lookout where you can watch the tide going in or out. This fascinating natural feature of Mont St.-Michel varies from extreme low tide when the island is surrounded by sand to high tide when the sea rushes up to enclose the village. Some of the restaurants in town tend to close mid-afternoon, so consider eating lunch on the earlier side before exploring.

When it’s time to return to your coach, relax on the drive back to Paris, where you day trip ends.

Highly recommend. Very beautiful place, full of history.

The tour is great. We enjoy the scenery. However, the audio scenery #s on map provided by the tour company do not match with the #s marked by the museum. Therefore, as an example, when we entered the museum, seeing an audio scenery # marked by the museum on the column, we search the same # on the map provided by tour company. They don't match. We could not get good audio from the map.

The visit to Mont St. Michele was amazing and worth the visit. The rating was solely on the two host (tour guides) who oversaw the operation of the bus. The hosts of the bus did not give us the time of day till we started the trip. The attitude and behavior were so unprofessional from both host when we asked some simple logistics question of the tour. I wish they welcome us independent individuals in the beginning and didnt ignore us or provide us with rude behavior.

This is also a must. We had the self guided tour because of our kids and we’re happy and lucky to have my kids with us in this tour with requires a lot of walking and steps. When you reach the top all they say is WOW.

This is definitely the highlight of the trip. Viator Inc. did an excellent job with the organized trip. First, the bus was very clean and comfortable. The 4- hour each way bus ride was pleasantly smooth and relaxing. The scenery on the way to Mont St. Michel is amazingly beautiful, super lush green pastures and the most brilliant green vegetation. Completely different than Paris. Mont St. Michel is a magical place to visit. If you a visiting France, take the day to visit this place and you will not regret it. Oh, and book it with Viator Inc.

The guide gave very clear instructions on how to get to Mont St Michel and the audio guide with the map was extremely useful!
The only down side were the long queues for restaurants in the town and we were stretched for time for lunch.
But still a recommended tour from Paris to see the beautiful St Michel!

Let me start off by saying Mont. St-Michel is an absolutely breath taking place that you should atleast see once in your lifetime! I strongly suggest going if you can. The drive was about 5 hours going and 5 hours coming back and they make a pit stop once along the way. We did the independent tour which we liked. We didn't get to do the museums on the island because there wasn't enough time. However, I looked up reviews and they weren't that great. The best thing about the place is the view and the stores. The restaurants on the island looked nice but the food wasn't great at all. Honestly, it was probably the worse food we had while in France. However, the abbey was beautiful. We spent about 4 hours on the island which goes really quickly. I would suggest that the tour company makes the tour longer on the actual island if they actually can. It would have been beautiful to stay on the island until the sun sets. The coach bus is really nice going. We got stopped by police while driving to Mont. St.-Michel and were at the stop for a little over a half an hour. What we didn't like was that the tour company didn't make up the time on the island for being stopped. In fact the stop cut into our time so the time on the island felt rushed which in turn felt like the amount we paid for this specific tour was a little excessive for what you actually get.

Mont St Michel is very well preserved and environmental friendly. I shall definitely go to the beaches if I wear slipper.
