Valerie is an absolute gem of a tour guide! She is incredibly knowledgable, professional, and fosters a fun, friendly environment among all the tour attendees. Thank you for sharing your passion, knowledge about the salt lake and beyond, and thoughtfully answering everyone's questions.

The pick up was in time and our guide was very friendly. We drove to the Great Salt Lake State Park, where we had 30 minutes to explore. On the way our guide gave us some information about Salt Lake City and the Great Salt Lake. Then we went back. If you have a car better do it on your owne, $ 39.90 is too much money for what you get.

Tagging along on my wife's work conference I had some time to tour Salt Lake City but wanted to see the Great Salt Lake as well. This two hour excursion fit the bill nicely. After calling to make arrangements the small tour bus picked me up right in front of my downtown hotel. The driver was fun and informative, providing history of the area and interesting facts about the lake itself. We stopped to observe antelope along the way! The Lake is beautiful in its starkness and we were invited to walk along the sandy shore and even take a dip if we wanted to. A couple of folks had planed to do this and brought swim suits and towels. There is a nice gift shop and interpretive center nearby where you can change. The worlds largest open pit copper mine is across the road from the lake making for another interesting site.

Captain Valerie was awesome!!!!! She was very informative in a fun way and also took some pics of me and my hubby in lake so we can have some memories. I would definitely recommend this experience and would also recommend to bring a towel and suit so you can float in the lake. So happy we did! There are a lot of little flies as others comment but they are harmless and do not bother you .....they stay close to the sand. Never realized this is a bucket list item....but it is! Thanks for the great experience Captain Valerie :)

Easy tour from downtown with hotel pickups. Our guide was a former school teacher and super informative! He had notebooks with photos to show some of the things he talked about en route to the lake... Saltair pavillion, copper mines etc. The lake was cool... DO plan to float while you're there. Yes, there are brine shrimp and hundreds of tiny "flies" that feed on them along the shoreline but it's not a big deal to wade past them to float in the salty lake! You can rinse off at a hose outside the gift shop. GREAT tour for the $. Don't forget to tip your guide ;)

It was interesting...

I mean, the tour guide was very nice and knowledgeable but the actual lake was kind of disgusting. I did not want to go swimming due to the POUNDS of flies eating the DEAD brine shrimp. Sorry, it was a pretty mountain view but that's about it

Disappointing Lake Tour

I looked forward to seeing Salt Lake. The freeway drive past a mining company to get he Lake was not pretty. They don’t tell you until you to the Lake that it is surrounded by tiny brine shrimp which attract lots of tiny black flies. You must walk through the flies and the shrimp to get to the very shallow Salt Lake. This adventure held was not pleasant. I really would not tell anyone to waste their time or money on this trip. Our driver got us back to SLC quickly and was very interested in receiving tips. In fact he seemed to be rude to one person about their tip. I would give this a zero star rating if I could.

Nice tour of the Great Salt Lake with descriptions of the topography, historical significance, and a description of the adjacent copper mine. I would recommend this tour .

My recent tour of the Great Salt Lake was delightful . It was a last minute decision on our part to join since we arrived in SLC fairly early to get settled in our Hyatt House but late enough to arrange hotel pick up . The tour guide dropped us off where we were staying after a good 2 hour drive and tour of this geographical landmark . On our way there , we saw some economical and historical interest sites of SLC.

The guide was excellent. We learned a lot not only about the Salt Lake but about the history of the entire area with focus on the Mormons and how they settled there. the scenery was awesome. We had adequate time to get off the bus and "explore" the lake on our own.
