After morning pickup from your hotel in San Miguel de Allende, travel to a horse ranch located 45 minutes southwest of the city. En route, you might just spot the Cañada de la Virgen pyramid in the background.
Upon arrival at the ranch, receive a horseback-riding lesson, and get paired with a horse suitable to your height and experience level. Follow after your guide and start on a 40-minute descent to the bottom of the canyon, and discover La Virgen river.
From the base of the canyon, look up and marvel at the panoramas of cliff surrounding you. Pick up the pace and ride to the nearby village of Boca de la Cañada. Stow your horse and set off on a hike in search of geodes and quartz crystals.
Return to the ranch and take a leap of faith on a 120-foot (37-meter) rappel down the canyon (optional activity). Once you’re ready for lunch, dig into hearty fare of homemade tortillas, beans, quesadillas, organic cheese and beans, nopales (cactus), rice, salad, guacamole and salsa, and more.
Your 5-hour tour concludes with transport back to your hotel in San Miguel de Allende.
