The ship was spotless, the captain spent a lot of time at areas of interest including the glacier, Orca whale, sea lion, stellar lion, beaver spottings along the way. The crew were very friendly and professional. We had purchased the buffet and the food was excellent and there was plenty to go around more than 1 time. Would highly recommend this cruise
Great staff for the day, Patrick our park ranger who was on board was full of information about the marine life, history and formation of the glaciers.
The staff were so passionate about their jobs and even spent some extra time searching for Orcas that were spotted in a nearby location, luckily for us we were fortunate enough to see these beautiful creatures cruising through the blue waters.
The salmon we had for lunch was delicious too, overall great trip.
I had a great time on this cruise. Very professional people, Captain Laura and her crew were awesome in finding wildlife as we cruised this beautiful park. The boat is very new, clean and well maintained. I didn't purchase the food included package but I should have, my only regret, and it was my fault. I highly recommend this cruise!!!
The ride was amazing from start to end. The day was beautiful. The ranger onboard was very informative and knowledgeable. The staff are friendly and helpful. We saw the magnificent glaziers flow in between the majestic mountains and land formations. We stopped to see fin whales and Orcas. Eagles, seals and otters. It was a magical day.
We loved this cruise. Everyone was helpful and accommodating. In spite of the smoke from the unfortunate and devastating wildfires they made it informative and educational.
I highly recommend this cruise.
It may not be fair to give this tour a "poor" rating because of the horrible smoky conditions from the fire; however, in my opinion, the tour should have been cancelled and money refunded. We did see some wildlife, which was great. The captain, crew, and National Park ranger were all awesome and informative. The glacier was spectacular, but visibility was so bad that you couldn't see the mountains behind it. I came to Alaska for the beautiful scenery...and saw none of it. Again, not the tour company's fault, but they should have cancelled the day's tour and refunded our money.
The scenery in Kenai Fjords is stunning to say the least. The cruise was very well organized and planned. The number of passengers on the vessel was just right for everyone to be able to enjoy the spectacular views without being in each others' way. Everyone on board has reserved seating inside to leave your stuff or occupy when you need a break from the wind on the deck. The crew was professional, courteous, and knowledgeable. There was a park ranger on board giving us insights about the wildlife, the waters, and landscapes that we got to witness. We saw a few sea otters, a humpback whale, three orcas, stellar sea lions, ice seals, Dall's porpoises, many bird species including puffins and bald eagles, and a glaciers! We had the cruise option that would visit one glacier up close while seeing several from a distance. Seeing the Aialik glacier up close and being to see *and hear* calving activity was fantastically surreal and a privilege. Overall, I would heartily recommend this cruise to anyone visiting Alaska.
Other notes: There were complimentary binoculars on board although we had carried ours. We can't comment on the food as we didn't buy the lunch option (Vegan options were limited). The weather was cloudy -- this did not dampen the experience at all although we had to work a little bit harder to capture enough light on a moving vessel for photos.
The weather was awful the day we scheduled our trip (7/14/19), but we had a great time anyway. The glacier was indeed impressive. Even more impressive was seeing the humpback whale, the orca pods (2), and the Steller sea lions. Captain Sarah & crew did a really good job on a day that was rainy, foggy, windy, and full of pitches & rolls.
