Returns to original departure point
After port pickup, your 2.5-hour shore excursion begins with a city tour of Skagway. At the Skagway City Overlook, enjoy bird’s-eye views of the town, harbor and cruise ships. Against the backdrop of mountains and rain forests, see historic landmarks including the WP&YR railroad, Moore Creek Bridge, Brackett Wagon Road and Pitchfork Falls. Your informative guide shares tales at the Klondike Gold Rush Cemetery — hear about Frank Reid, ‘Soapy’ Smith and the gunfight that forever transformed Skagway.

Next, speed along the Klondike Highway, which parallels the White Pass Railroad and White Pass Trail, and listen to stories of the Klondike Gold Rush. As waterfalls, mountains and glaciers pass within view, imagine hopeful prospectors crossing this unforgiving terrain.

Ascend an elevation of 3,292 feet (1,003 meters) before reaching Tormented Valley, a desolate lunar-like landscape of 300-year-old trees and alpine tundra. Traverse the valley and then stretch your legs at Summit Lake. Take in the beautiful but harsh wilderness in the White Pass Summit Area that inspired writers like Robert Service and Jack London.

En route back to Skagway port, stop at the iconic ‘Welcome to Alaska’ sign and snap a commemorative shot of your journey.

Please note: All passengers must have a valid passport.

The tor guide was nice but there was a lot of talk about the cost of living hardships etc. people in Skagway faced, due to the economy being based on cruise ship income...I wanted to be happy but instead ended up felling said for the people that lived there and there financial situations

Thanks for taking the tour with us in Skagway. We are sorry if the guide spent too much time talking about the cost of living in Alaska. It definitely is higher than the lower 48 states. But by visiting us in Skagway you provide income to the city, local businesses, and residents by your purchases. Thank you for traveling and we appreciate your comments.

Great tour!

We booked this tour late. We were hoping to do rail/ bus combo tour. We were glad we did this one instead. Our tour guide , Andy was exceptional. He was so informative and thoughtful . Our tour started with a visit to the cemetery where Soapy Smith was buried. After telling us the history behind the famous shootout and touring the cemetery, we took the short hike to a beautiful waterfall. Andy was always willing to go the extras mile for us, taking pictures, explaining things, pointing out different locations and making stops for pictures or just a special view. The drive to the Yukon was just beautiful. On the way back to town, Andy took us to an overlook of the city. Then upon returning he pointed out local restaurants, shops, etc. All in all it was simply a wonderful tour!

Basically it was a small bus ride up to the summit. Beverly was our guide and gave info during the ride. We stopped a few times to get out for pics. Stopped by a small waterfall. I kind of thought there would be more to it. Pretty scenery.

This excursion went to the same places as another excursion we went on so it was disappointing for me. Felt like I wasted my money. Only thing that was different was the little hike to the water falls. That was very pretty.

We are sorry your two tours overlapped in itinerary. If anyone ever has questions about their tours please contact us directly and we are happy to help you. Glad you did enjoy Lower Reid Falls, it is a lovely spot!
