Tour was not as advertised. Only one of 3 listed stops was actually visited. Tastings involved visiting commercial shops that had samples of olive oil, truffles and the like. There was no formal meal provided or even offered. Wine tasting was again at commercial establishments. The last stop was at a winery where we were charged to taste wines. The scenery in Istria is beautiful, but I do not believe we received the value provided in the pre-tour description of what the tour would involve. A disappointment.
The description of this tour is absolutely accurate: you travel safely and in comfort! from Trieste via Slovenia to very nearby Croatia passports are needed. There is an abundance of superb landscapes, beautiful villages and a number of tastings among them truffles, olives/olive oil, cheese, mistletoe and other liquors and some outstanding wine. If you wish, it is possible to buy what you have tasted but there is no sense of obligation. We particularly enjoyed all the information from our guide actually, on the day we had two! about the history and culture along the road - the kind of insights that add colour and perspective to the past and the present. Istria is really worth this most enjoyable and relaxing trip!
Dejan was great, it was a really fun day riding around Croatia with him and we loved the restaurant where we ate lunch -- the steak with truffles was fantastic! The local olive oil was also great, and the country was beautiful.
