Spend a day learning about the history and culture of the San, an indigenous peoples native to Namibia. Travel to the N/a'ankuse Lodge and Sanctuary where you’ll get familiar with the Sans’ everyday life. Learn how to make fires as well as seeing traditional dances and craft projects. You can also choose to go on a bush walk or game drive.
We booked our May 2, 2019 day tour of the San Village with Enrico’s Tours on March 27, 2019 through Viator. After our inquiry, the company emailed us the day before the tour saying our pick-up time was 1:30pm.
That day we arrived in the hotel lobby at 1:15 to wait for our tour. By 2:40pm no one had arrived and we wandered off to get something to eat.
At 3:40, we received an email from Enrico’s Tours sent over an hour AFTER our pick-up time saying that the tour was “overbooked”. They offered us the next day but our flight back to the United States made that impossible so we entirely missed our tour.
Notifying us of a cancelled tour over 1 hour AFTER the pick-up time is totally unacceptable. We had ended our tour of Namibia on April 30. When this tour did not materialize we realized we had wasted 2 days of our trip doing nothing. May 1 had been a public holiday with everything closed and May 2 we spent waiting for a tour that did not happen. We had found stand-by seats on earlier flights and had we been notified in a timely manner, we would have been quite happy to go home early. We could have walked to the museums which we had been closed because of the holiday. For that matter, Enrico’s could have dug into the $200+ US dollars we had already paid him and hired a taxi/driver to take us out the San Village if the bus/van had been full. And yes, they also could have asked the other customers if it were possible for two of THEM to take the tour the next day. Unfortunately none of this happened.
I can’t recommend using Enrico’s Tours for anything in Namibia. They have absolutely no concern for their customers and not enough business sense to solve a minor issue to achieve customer satisfaction. Because of the vagaries of travel in Africa, your guide and tour company are hugely important. AVOID Enrico’s Tours. Check out Wild Wind Safaris and guide Ian Brown who did a superb job with our 16 day tour of a beautiful country.
