After hotel pickup in the morning by private vehicle, your tour starts with transport to the ferry terminal with your private guide and driver for the ride to Gulangyu Island, located off the southwest coast of Xiamen.
When you arrive on the island, where only electric-powered vehicles are allowed to prevent the noise and pollution of other vehicles, take a walk to admire the natural beauty and see the colonial European architecture of churches and other structures. You can also browse shops and cafes, if you wish. Before leaving, visit the traditional Chinese Shuzhuang Garden, once a private villa, which was built in 1931.
Back in Xiamen, enjoy lunch before heading south to Hulishan Battery Scenic Spot. Learn about the construction of the battery in the 1890s, and see the only surviving cannon, which sits 43 feet (13 meters) long. Also on site is the Rongguang Museum, home to weaponry and old fortified buildings.
The last stop of your tour is Nanputuo Temple, located at the foot of Wulaofeng Mountain. Originally built during the Tang dynasty, the temple was destroyed during the Ming dynasty and reconstructed during the Qing. Explore the complex of four main buildings and smaller structures with hundreds of Buddhist statues. If you wish, you can walk to the top of the mountain for a view of Xiamen and its surrounding countryside.
Your tour then ends with return to your hotel for drop-off.
