We will be hiking to the highest peak of São Miguel island, Pico da Vara (1103 meters), in an amazing natural reserve in Lands of Priolo, a protected area where you can find a native bird, the Azores Bullfinch, "Pyrrhula murina". Of all places in the planet, this bird only exists in this part of the island! Along the way, we will also have the opportunity to see and enjoy some native flora of the Laurel Forest, water streams, small waterfalls and even natural water pools, which you can jump into if you are courageous enough. At the top you'll be amazed by the stunning views, if the weather helps. After the hike, we will go for a bath in a natural hot water pool. This hike is around 12 Km. I would say it’s a medium / difficult hike, mostly due to a 3 km steep section. So, if you aren't comfortable hiking to high altitudes, I wouldn’t recommend it to you.
