Children's Museum of the Lowcountry (CML)
The Children's Museum of the Lowcountry’s mission is to provide a creative and innovative space for families to discover the power of play. The non-profit organization offers little ones nine interactive rooms each with its own theme. From art to science, fantasy to horticulture, this hands-on museum allows kids’ imaginations to run wild.
Tues–Sat 9am–5pm, Sun noon–5pm
25 Ann Street, Charleston, 29403
The basics
Start your family’s journey in the Art Room, where kids can choose from four different stations all designed to spark creative expression through sculpture, painting, mixed media, and sensory play. Or head to the Medieval Creativity Castle where kids can dress up and engage in their very own fairytale. If your child loves playing outside, check out the Kid’s Garden where they can identify butterflies, learn about basic botany, and even pick their own herbs. The museum also has a special play space dedicated to toddlers and babies.
Things to know before you go
- All adults must remain with their children through the entirety of their visit.
- It’s best to start your visit in the Art Room so that your paintings have enough time to dry before you leave.
- All paint in the Art Room washes out, but smocks are provided for extra protection.
- Admission is free for children under 1 year of age.
How to get there
