Elephant Parade House Tours

Elephant Parade House
The Thai organization Elephant Parade draws attention to the plight of the Asian elephant by exhibiting brightly painted elephant statues in international cities. At Elephant Parade House in Chiang Mai, visitors can admire sculptures painted by artists and celebrities and buy souvenirs to help save these endangered animals.

The Basics
The Elephant Parade House museum exhibits some of its most famous elephant statues, including originals and replicas of those painted by Jack Vettriano, Katy Perry, and Tommy Hilfiger. The gardens leading up to the workshop are lined with colorful sculptures, smaller versions of which are available to buy in the shop. Visitors can paint their own elephant during a workshop or learn more about the organization’s inception at Elephant Parade Land, located on the outskirts of Chiang Mai.

Things to Know Before You Go
  • Elephant Parade House is a must-visit for lovers of art and wildlife.
  • The on-site shop sells unique elephant-themed souvenirs, the profits of which contribute to a great cause.
  • Advance booking for workshops—an immersive and family-friendly activity—is recommended.
  • For the ultimate Elephant Parade experience, travelers can book a behind-the-scenes tour of Elephant Land, which offers the chance to watch artists at work while learning more about the organization’s mission.

How to Get There
Elephant Parade House is located just outside the walls of Chiang Mai Old Town, making it easy to reach on foot. Elephant Parade Land, which offers visitors deeper insight into the inner workings of the enterprise, is a 20-minute drive from the Old Town.

When to Get There
Elephant Parade House is open daily between 10am and 8pm. Workshops are sometimes available for walk-in guests; however, it’s best to book in advance.

International Cities with Elephant Parade Statues
Elephant Parade raises awareness by hosting temporary art galleries in cities around the world. Parades have been successfully hosted in Rio de Janeiro, Singapore, Hong Kong, London, and more than 20 other places. Check the Elephant Parade website for parades coming to a city near you.
