A Glimpse of Nostalgic Nakasendo Magome-juku&Peach Picking in Refreshing Summer!

・Have a joyful time in a local orchard and fully taste summer’s fresh flavor! The peach variety Hikawahakuho skin appears dark red, while juicy pulp is milky white, and sweet and sourness balance is just perfect! ・Watch the exquisite traditional wrapping art Mizuhiki, the cord tied around gift or an envelope. It is said that Mizuhiki originated in the early 7th century when Ono no Imoko, an official envoy to China, returned from a mission having gifts wrapped with hemp strings dyed red and white. The Mizuhiki remains till today and can be easily seen on celebration or memorial ceremonies. ・This cultural and historical trip highlights the remnant street Nakasendo that used to connect Edo (today’s Tokyo) and Kyoto. One of the post towns Magome-juku played its historical role of providing lodging, food, and entertainment for travelers. Today the area preserves traditional architecture style, with many turning into accommodation, shops, cafes and restaurants etc. for visitors.
