Your tour begins with an 8.30am pickup from your central Beirut hotel by private vehicle and an around 1.5-hour drive south to Tyre.
On arrival, make a beeline for the UNESCO-listed archeological ruins, as your guide fills you in on Tyre’s fascinating history. Hear how the city was founded in 2,750 BC and finally conquered by Alexander the Great in 332 BC, and see remnants from the city’s Roman, Phoenician, Greek, and Byzantine eras. Along the way, stop to admire highlights such as the Roman arena; a series of impressive Roman and Byzantine mosaics; and a Roman bathhouse dating back to the 2nd- or 3rd-century AD.
After lunch (own expense), explore the modern city of Tyre, stopping to visit the medieval towers, browse the traditional souks, and stroll along the sandy beaches, renowned as some of the most beautiful in Lebanon.
After a full day taking in the highlights of Tyre, return to Beirut, where your tour ends with drop-off at your hotel.
