The walking tour with Francisco was fantastic - informative, funny, he always had time for questions, and he was so knowledgeable. It was great to try chicha for the first time (and it won’t be the last!) and sample some excellent coffee. My only regret is not writing down the fruit names, but that was my bad. I would strongly recommend for anyone wanting to dig a little deeper into La Candelaria, Bogota and Colombia.

This tour was on our first day in Bogotá. Not only did we enjoy the tour, but Natalie was cheerful and informative as she corralled a fairly large group. She had time for individual questions and presented the area very nicely. And she helped get us oriented in our new trip.

The walking tour La Candelaria I experienced very satifactory. I'm very glad I booked. I appreciate the way the tour guide shared her knowledge in an engaging, interactive and entertaining way. I also liked the interavtion via questions with the tour members, rather than treating the tour as a one-person show or a school lesson. Interest in the tour subject namely the Candelaria neighbourhood was created. Interesting in the environment was developed more especialy about what was told e.g. about the history, its development, the architecture, the people. I consider it a wonderfull tour because participants were also getting on well and enjoying the shared experience.

Good tour, but not extraordinary. Tip not included after all!

4/5. I’ve done dozens of walking tours abroad and this one was good, but nothing extraordinary. The guide (Bernard) and was nice, knowledgeable, and professional, and gave us free tastings of local fruits, juices, and coffee. No chicha, though (it was advertised as included in the tour). I learnt some interesting facts about Colombia and Bogotá, but overall it wasn’t as engaging as some of the other walking tours I’ve been on. I also felt weird about the whole tipping thing. This was booked via Viator, so I had already paid £10 / $10 per person. As mentioned in the terms and conditions, that fee already includes a tip. However, upon arrival to the meeting point, another tour guide who was working with Bernard made it clear that we were all expected to tip on top of whatever we’ve paid to be on the tour, because the £10 / $10 p.p. paid doesn’t entirely go to the tour guide - Viator takes a cut, then the tour guide agency takes another cut, and only the remainder goes to the pockets of the tour guide. However, our group was made of people who had booked a free tour on websites like GuruWalk (and had paid nothing), and people who, like us, had already paid £10 / $10 to be there. We ended up tipping Bernard but I wasn’t comfortable with the approach taken by the other guide in making it clear that we were all expected to tip on top of the fee we’d already paid.

We are glad that the tour was good and we are already checking how to keep improving our tour so it becomes an engaging and unforgettable experience. Regarding the tips, it is true that some platforms charge in advance the “tip” you’re supposed to give to the tour guide, and some others don’t. In any case we just follow the platform guidelines to promote our tours. However, we will check the way our guides are explaining tipping to tourists so there are no misunderstandings and no uncomfortable experiences. We will refund the tip paid on Viator because nobody has to pay twice. Once again we truly apologize for the inconvenience and thanks again for booking with us.

Nice guy, bad tour

The guide was a very nice guy but we don't feel that we learnt much about bogota or candelaria. Also the chicha tasting mentioned in the description did not happen

Lovely tour of La Candelaria, despite the rain coming down like a waterfall!

The tour started off where it was supposed to, despite it raining like crazy. The tour guide, Cristian, championed on with 10 of us as we walked through the neighborhood of La Candelaria. We saw multiple sights, visited a fun and interesting market where we tried multiple types of fruits (all very good), and ended with a visit to a coffee shop where we sampled authentic Colombian coffee. Our guide encouraged us to try Chicha and I would’ve if I wasn’t traveling alone. Totally recommend this tour if you have a few hours to spare in Bogota. Hopefully the weather gods will be more cooperative next time!

I had a wonderful experience with a new tour guide, Nataly, who gave me really lovely insight into Bogotá and its history. She was very accommodating and took her time to show me around and answer my questions. It was her first tour, and she did an amazing job. The sampling of the local foods, chicha and coffee gives you a taste of what the city has to offer, and the colourful streets lined with graffiti art gives La Candelaria a lot of its vibrancy

We had an amazing time at the walking tour and it exceeded all expectations. Our tour guide was super nice, funny, and knowledgeable about Bogotá. We learned many fun facts about the history and culture. It was a great pace and our tour guide recommended some delicious places for lunch too. Would definitely recommend to others!
