Take a full-day tour by deluxe 4WD-vehicle to explore the Kimberley region from Broome. See three famous places in the Kimberley including the Prison Boab Tree, Windjana Gorge, and Tunnel Creek. You'll learn about the history of the Australian Outback and visit stunning locations on a 15-hour excursion that includes lunch, guide, entrance fees, and transport in a comfortable air-conditioned vehicle.
  • Full-day tour of the Kimberley with Windjana Gorge and Tunnel Creek, from Broome
  • Hear the historical background of the Boab Prison Tree, Myalls Bore, and Tunnel Creek
  • Look for crocodiles and other critters at Windjana Gorge
  • Wade through the cavern at Tunnel Creek for a memorable hiking experience
  • Includes guide, picnic lunch, deluxe transportation, and entrance fees
After early morning pickup in Broome, set out over the Fitzroy River via the Willare Bridge to begin your tour of the Kimberley region.

After a stop for morning tea, visit the ancient Boab Prison Tree, a large hollow tree that is reported to have housed prisoners in the 1890s. You'll also see Myalls Bore, a massive trough built by farmers in the early 1900s to provide water for hundreds of cows at a time.

Continue through Kimberley's cattle country to Windjana Gorge. Have a picnic lunch there, then look for freshwater crocodiles and other wildlife hiding in the Lennard River, which is flanked by the towering limestone walls of the Windjana Gorge.

Next up, take a somewhat challenging walk in at Tunnel Creek, a half-mile (750-meter) long flooded cavern. Wade through water that might reach your thighs as you hear the story of Jandamarra, an indigenous Australian man who fought back against the colonists in the late 1800s. Check out stalactites, stalagmites, and other formations in the cavern, which is also home to bats, freshwater crocodiles, and olive pythons.

A moderate level of fitness is required for this tour. Expect to walk on uneven ground, climb rocks, and wade through water. Please bring a pair of shoes that can get wet (reef shoes or old trainers). Headlamp torches are provided.

At the end of the tunnel, you come to a waterhole where you can swim. Afterward, begin the return journey to Broome, taking a break for afternoon tea and later, making a stop for dinner (own expense). Your tour ends when you arrive back in Broome about 10pm.
