Departure Point

Traveler pickup is offered
Pick-up from hotels, guesthouse, backpackers, vacation rentals and any other points within Cape Town city center.

This exciting shark experience begins from your central Cape Town hotel.

Start at the Great White House, Gansbaai’s shark diving center, where you’ll eat breakfast, and meet your guides for the day. After eating, get fitted into the appropriate diving gear.

Climb into the specialized diving boat, complete with a shark diving cage, for the 20-minute trip into the ocean. Your captain heads for Dyer Island, choosing an ideal place to stop for the dive.

The cage is secured to the side of the boat, and during the cage dives it stays a few feet (meters) below the surface of the water. This means it’s easy for you to get out of the water at any point when you want to.

The boat stays anchored in this diving spot for roughly two hours, depending on shark activity. During that time, there are drinks and snacks for you aboard the boat. After the boat returns to Gansbaai, enjoy light refreshments back at the Great White House. You can choose to buy a professional video of your shark cage diving experience (own expense).

Your experience concludes with a drop-off at your hotel in Cape Town.

Amazing experience with great sightings of sharks. Briefings were done well and communication throughout was great. All equipment provided too. Layer up as it gets very windy on the boat! Our driver from Cape Town, Salie, was absolutely excellent and so friendly. Thank you again

Fantastic experience provided by Marine Dynamics! Very professional, friendly and eco friendly- my 16 year old son and I really enjoyed it tho the only downside being it is a long way to Gaansbaai -3 hours there and then 3 hours back !!- roadworks didn’t help our poor bus driver!! All in all I would highly recommend Marine Dynamics!

Staff were helpful and the experience was worth the drive from Cape Town. Also lucky enough to see sharks up close. Would love to do it again

On time pick up and drop-off to hotel. A fun day out with a well organised team and saftey. Brilliant experience and a must do. The tour include before and after information sessions at the clubhouse. We were circled by several copper sharks one which rattled the cage when I was in it! Really glad I did it but disappointed great white stayed away recently.

Not worth it at all

I'm not sure where to begin. This trip was supposed to be fun but I regret booking it. The weather was horrible at the time and the company did not warn us to at least take a sea-sickness pill or bring electrolyte supplements to rehydrate from all the throwing up that happened during the two - three hours sea trip. I am a sea person and went on so many trips and never experienced sea sickness before. Because of what happened to me at the boat, I couldn't even go inside the water to see the sharks - also the people who went inside water couldn't see a thing as visibility was 0-1. The people who were on boat saw sharks swimming near the boat and thats it. we were about 20 people or more in the trip and maybe 15 people got sea-sick. If you want to do this experience, make sure you ask about weather conditions or its better to go to an aquarium. The only thing thats keeping me from being mad at the company is that part of the money we paid will go to a good cause - to research and help recuse sea animals

A fantastic day trip despite not seeing any great whites, which we knew was unlikely. The whole crew were excellent, there was a marine biologist onboard who answered questions. The guys luring the sharks in to view did an amazing job. All in all, very well organised, definitely recommend Marine Dynamics.

We booked this trip as part of our honeymoon to South Africa. From start to end it was amazing. We were contacted the day before with the time we would be collected from our hotel in Cape Town. I even replied back asking what to take and happily replied. Swimwear. Suncream. Jacket. I'd also add maybe extra clothes depending what you're wearing. The bus drive was beautiful and breathtaking. The staff were professional and helpful. I felt safe the whole time. Once there the staff again were lovely, helping and more than happy to answer any of my husbands many questions about sharks and anything else. We weren't lucky enough to see a great white but despite that the trip was amazing and I'd happily go back again.

Not worth it in the off-season

Overall, it's tough for me to recommend this trip to anyone. We were informed the night before our booking that the pickup time was 4am, not the 7am departure written on the listing (7am is when the boat leaves). So that made for a grueling early morning and a 2.5-3 hour one way drive out there. Once out on the boat, we saw several copper sharks, but because the water was so murky the view was better from the boat than in the cage. We did not see any Great Whites. We found out later that Great White sightings are apparently super rare from Oct-Mar, so if you go in that timeframe you almost certainly won't see one. The staff was awesome and super friendly, so no knocks there at all. Just would have been nice to know ahead of paying the several hundred dollars that we would be getting no sleep, driving 6 hours all-in, and seeing no GW sharks in super murky water.
