Traveler Tips

If you go in the summer, bring lots of water and a hat.
They had umbrellas available to borrow but the pathways were several inches deep with water which made walking around difficult.
Pineapple tours is a great choice for seeing Middleton Place.

Was an enjoyable day. The guides in the house were very knowledgeable. Enjoyed the newborn lambs. The demonstrators were great (Cooper, blacksmith, candlemaker)

The gardens are beautiful and very peaceful. Hard to believe how many were not as fortunate on those grounds to be able to enjoy the beauty.
Wonderful experience at Middleton

Neil was our driver and our tour guide. Can’t say enough about Neil, he was amazing!! Very knowledgeable, professional, friendly, accommodating are just a few of his qualities that made him 5 stars! Highly recommend this tour. Thanks
Best tour for your money

This pineapple tour was incredible opportunity. The tour guide was so knowledgeable and kind he even dropped us off at our hotels! The fried chicken and she crab soup are a must at the Middleton Place restaurant! Self guided tour of the house was wonderful and so informative! Each of the stations teach you so much. If you have the time to sit in on the other tours while you are there it will add exponentially to your day.
A wonderful Experience.

The entire day was enjoyable. The included lunch was a nice touch. The driver was quite knowledgeable and even went the extra mile to see to our needs. The grounds are breathtaking.
Smooth and Enjoyable Experience Overall

I would definitely recommend the Middleton Place tour with transportation by Pineapple Tours. Our mini bus driver, Smitty, was wonderful. He was very informative and personable and a good/safe driver. It was nice to have so many things included in the price of the tour, such as the transportation, admission to the property and house tour, and lunch. The property was beautiful, and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the lunch considering it was included in the tour (get the fried chicken and the bourbon caramel ice cream, you won't regret either!). I have two minor criticisms, however. The first is that between the pre-scheduled lunch and house tour, the rest of the time on the property does feel a tad rushed. I would say the company should allow 30-45 minutes more free time on the property and that would be perfect. The other minor criticism is that, on our tour, one couple never showed back up for the bus ride back to Charleston, which left the rest of us waiting around for 30 additional minutes for them while Smitty repeatedly tried to reach them via call and text. I don't fault Smitty for waiting, and he said this had never happened to him before, but I do think that the tour company should set some sort of policy for this type of situation, so the driver knows what the cutoff for leaving is and the rest of the passengers are not sitting around waiting for a straggler(s). Overall, the tour was a positive experience start to finish, so I would definitely recommend it to others.
Nice grounds, totally self guided. Overpriced IMO

For the price this should have been a guided tour, not just being dropped off at a big plantation. Even so some suggested itineraries would have been nice.
Beautiful Trip

This was a fabulous tour package and a great plantation to visit! Loved the history that was shared and the meal was amazing!
Highlight of Charleston Vacation!
RJ_R, Jul 2022
Everything was great! The manor tour was very interesting and informative (the movie The Patriot did an excellent job of recreating the manor house). Walking through the gardens was great, they are very beautiful, I only wish I had more time I would have brought a book to read by the water. The living history exhibits were awesome and very informative. All of the historians were very knowledgeable and professional; the cooper exhibit was particularly interesting. Lastly, the restaurant is AWESOME. Literally some of the best food in Charleston which sounds crazy but it’s true! I only wish we had more time because we could have spent another 2-3 hours there easily.
Not for the faint of heart.

We are 2 senior women who expected to find some transportation within the plantation grounds. Sadly there wasn’t any. I recommend it but, not for anyone who has trouble walking long distances in the blazing Sun.

Fantastic day on a genuine plantation and great food with the provided lunch. Wander the grounds, gardens, walk amongst the animals, and take in all the beauty of the place.

A MUST VISIT WHILE IN CHARLESTON
David_H, May 2022
My wife and I just completed a 7 day visit to Charleston, during which we visited two plantations. Middleton and Magnolia. They both had their unique beauty, but if we had to choose only one it would probably be Middleton. In addition to the history associated with this plantation and the impressive geometrical gardens, the food in the restaurant alone was worth the trip. Their fried chicken is the best I've ever had anywhere.............including in Charleston's downtown with many restaurants famous for their fried chicken. The plantation itself is beautiful and there a volunteers walking around who are anxious to share additional information about the place's history. It is a trip worth taking, and the tour we took included transportation from the Visitor's center in an air conditioned van with a city certified tour guide driver who also provided us with fascinating stories about what we going to see. Glad we took this tour!
