Such a phenomenal tour during our time in Beijing. This private hiking day tour was exactly what we wanted when signing up for the tour. Our small group of 4 was picked up at the hotel at the designated time there was an issue however that our tour guide attempted to call our room to set up an earlier pick up time but we never received the message, which could have been a hotel communication issue. We were given the option to do the touristy or non-touristy part of the wall. In an effort to get a true sense of the great wall without dodging other tourists we selected to go the non-touristy route. After a 2 1/2 hour ride to the Wall with a quick snack break along the way we began our hike. We were able to hike along a non-restored portion of the wall, which was rather difficult at times but an incredible sight to see. I would highly recommend this part of the hike for people who are in relatively good shape with no balance concerns as there are steep inclines/declines, uneven surfaces, and narrow steps. The views from the watch tours were an incredible way to begin to grasp the enormity of this structure. We encountered a max of 10 people throughout our hike leaving us to enjoy the view and hikes without weaving our way through other tourists or vendors. Following the hike we stopped for lunch in a small village and enjoyed a large feast of farm fresh food. The drive back to our hotel took over 4 1/2 hours secondary to Beijing evening traffic, which would be the only negative part of this whole experience. Never the less, I would highly recommend this tour to experience!!
