Begin your day with an early morning pickup from your hotel. Drive through Peru’s rugged mountain landscape until reaching the town of Quessiuno, to eat breakfast before starting your hike.

Trek uphill, taking in the colorful views of the Rainbow Mountains. Learn about the local flora and fauna from your guide as you go.

Once reaching the peak of the mountain, take time to enjoy the view of the mountain and the snow-capped Ausangate beyond. Then, make your way downhill and eat a leisurely lunch back in town.

Return to Cusco where you get dropped off at the Regocijo Square, one block from Cusco’s central plaza.

Please note: This tour is recommended for those in strong physical shape who have acclimated to the altitude. It is also possible to rent a horse (own expense) if you don’t wish to hike.

Amazing feat, challeneging hike, jaw dropping scenery

This was a truly memorable hike!! It actually was the cap of my entire trip. If you only have time to do hike this moutain, and not Machu Picchu, you won't be disappointed. I would recommend everyone to take their time getting to the top, and equally as much, take even more to make your way down and admire the beauty of the surroudning mountains, valleys, alpaca's, etc. Words, nor pictures can do this place justice. Don't allow the negative reviews about the mountain or guides deter you. Invidually, this is an amazing feat at such high altitude. For someone who traisn year-round at non-high altitudes, I found this challenging, but was the first in my group of 8 to reach the summit, given that our guide wanted to go back and help others (which is why I give them so much credit, asd they trek this moutain almost 3-4 times a week).

This was an AMAZING experience. The views are well worth the hike but be prepared to HATE the last 500 meters up. The oxygen is thin, the horses (60soles) take you as far as they can but it’s still a hike. Tips: bring your passport to get stamped at the top (2soles) They sell corn, llama, and pictures with llamas at the top. Oxygen is only provided in case of emergency Bring small bills or change to buy water or snacks along the way or to use the restrooms. Wear layers as it can get cold but also hot from all the hiking This hike is not easy, take the horse if you have any doubts, they’re available both ways. The guide was great but this is primarily an independent hike. As our guide said. Attitude over altitude!

Dear: 663kasiak The rainbow mountain hike is challenging, that is true, but definitly it worths, The views are amazing. If you feel that the hike is very hard, there is the option to rent horses, even that we do not rent them as a company, our guides can help to find a good horse for you, the price is 60 soles one way and 90 soles a round trip, about the attitude, yes, there is very important. While you hike, you have to Know that at the end you will have one of the most amazing views of the world !. HOpe to see you again some day. Rough ride, but great experience

Wonderful experience, but be aware the journey can be rough from the start with 3:40am pickup, a rough windy drive up the mountain, 2 hour wait till breakfast, followed by another rough ride, hard hike (especially incline at the last hundred meters). I did take a horse up, but note they do not take you the last leg as it's too hard on them. After you descend, you will get lunch but now it's about 6 hours after a strenuous work out. Tips: bring toilet paper since banios run out, you must bring your own water, bring your passport to get it stamped at top, bring a "baggy" in case you lose your stomach contents during the drive (which I did descending). History: sadly we've only come to know about the Rainbow Mountains due to excess glacial melts in the last 5+ years. Very sad...

Dear: Lfhhi Thanks so much for your review, The rainbow mountain is one ofthe mother nature gems, unfortunatly came out because of global warming, then the place is new and peruvian goverment is trying to make better the roads, the services and others, it is a very slow work but going! We provide and small bottle of water but it is recomendable to bring some extra, and if you want the stamp, bring your passport ! Thank you for the trip and fun. It was a truly amazing trip Sam and other guys are very enthusiastic and funny. Tour accomplished every single term offered! Nice breakfast and lunch. Amazing hiking. You don’t need anything accept you yourself and your will to be at the top. the rest is provided by the tour. It’s price worth too! Thanks for the tour! Do not forget your passport to stamp it !!! The only thing is a quite a long drive way... but worth for beauty.

We experienced the tour in august, our guide was a really nice guy who could speak also in english and italian, and was very kind with us during all the day. The tour is very challenging: more than 8 hours of drive to go and come back, just to stay 2 hours at the mountain.. i don't know if it is worth, even because trekking at 5000m above sea level is really difficult (and i am a very experienced trekker). The main problem was our driver, who was completely crazy: during the road to the rainbow mountain we risked the life several times, he was running like hell, we even got a flat tire due to his crazy way of taking the turns.. and although we all asked to slow down he did non care, we were really disappointed and this ruined all the tour and the atmosphere.. i would suggest to the organization to fire him immediately, they cannot put 15 lives at risk with such unexperienced person!

One go must stop to see the beauty of Mother Nature. Tour starts with an early morning pickup (around 4am); breakfast/lunch stop is the same, very chilly inside in the morning and hot during lunch. Guide is attentive while you are on the trek, but 0 communication while in transit (watch soccer game and chat with driver the entire time)

Driver was on time(early actually) the guide spoke good English and the mountain itself was beautiful. Definitely a must do in my opinion. The only downside was the food was lacking..I’d pack a sandwhich and some snacks if i was to do it again!

Recoomendation for improvements. You may want to have pick up sites in stead of picking up hotel by hotel. The place where to eat hygiene in the kitchen needs to be improve. Add 5 lr 8 more dollars and upgrade the restaueant please. I understand this is a new tour. Despite of my recomndatios, i will do this trip again.
