Antigua Guatemala City Tour

Everything went like clockwork. We were contacted via SMS the previous day, and confirmed pick up time in Guatemala City. Juan arrived punctually, but spoke very limited English. However, we enjoyed a scenic 1-hour drive to Antigua. Galileo met us at that office less than 5 minutes after arrival. We enjoyed a leisurely walking tour of the quaint, colonial town as Galileo provided history and background of the sites. We expressed interest in a couple of local products (Jade, coffee, chocolate), and he made time to take us to the authentic, quality locations to see/buy these. He did not rush us at any time. The tour was outstanding and we would highly recommend it. La Antigua is beautiful! We visited the historical sites and the shops and wish we had planned more time there. We would recommend staying at least one night in one of the beautiful "Casas" in Antigua and taking the time to enjoy the ambience and the local culture to a greater extent. The locals are welcoming and warm and no high pressure sales. (A couple of the local hotels with history: Posada de Don Rodrigo and hotel Casa Santo Domingo).

I was supposed to be picked up in my hotel in Guatemala city by 8:30 AM but nobody came. After several phone calls they sent a taxi at 10:45 AM to take me to Antigua where I was supposed to have joined the tour group. I reached Antigua around noon and was taken to another travel agency Sunrise. A guide was assigned to me and he walked me through Antigua but for lack of time he could not show me all the sights. I returned to the agency at 3 PM because the tour bus was supposed to pick me up for my return journey. Again, I had to wait and ultimately, around 3:45 PM a car picked me up and dropped me back to my hotel in Guatemala City.

Very short, rushed tour of Guatemala city. Just okay. Traffic getting back to the hotel was almost longer than the trip itself!

Excellent tour - my guide Erwin was full of energy, easy to talk with and enjoyed sharing the sites and information about this small colonial gem. This is what I call a living historical site - amongst the ruins people are attending school, using the administration and court house buildings and doing their daily activities. Make sure you see the view of the city on the north side with the volcanos and the old church that is now a hotel.

This was such a great tour.. I recommend this tour for everyone. The tour company Maya World Tours is a great company very helpful staff.My tour guide Hector he was such a great person. Loving, caring, and very helpful thought my trip in Antigua. If you are in Guatemala I would highly recommend this tour.
