Meet your guide in the lobby of your Ho Chi Minh City hotel in the morning and depart for the Cu Chi countryside. You have two options, depending on your selection at booking: depart by boat and return by van, or take the trip in reverse.
For the first option, you're transferred to the pier to board a boat for a 1.5-hour ride to Cu Chi. Within 15 minutes, watch the banks of the river change from an urban landscape to lush jungle. On arrival, explore the Cu Chi Tunnels with your guide for about 2 hours (going by boat gets you there before the tour buses arrive).
Descend into the tunnels and learn about the Viet Cong fighters who built the network to launch the Tet Offensive during the Vietnam War (aka American War). You'll find ammunition caches, secret bunkers, command centers, a firing range, and more.
Then eat a traditional Vietnamese lunch at a restaurant and relax in the pleasant riverside setting.
Afterward, you will be picked up by van and head into the surrounding countryside. Visit a cricket farm to taste this local delicacy, an organic vegetable and herb farm, and a local house that makes rice paper by hand in the traditional method. Then continue on until arrival back in Ho Chi Minh City in the afternoon.
