I was met at my hotel by Nadiia and she took me on the most fabulous tour of Kiev. The tour took 6 hours and visited all the tourist attractions possible in the city. Nadiia's knowledge of the city and its history was top notch and her English outstandingly good.
There was allot of walking involved as we covered allot of kilometres. However it was a very enjoyable day...
Our tour guide Dmitri was the best! He was a Journalist and a writer and gave us the perfect tour. He had personal experience fighting for independence in Kiev so he gave us a real feeling for what had transpired there. I think he travels a good deal of the time so I recommend that everyone try to get a tour with him.
Was instructed that tour would begin at European Square and to meet the guide there. However, the guide showed up at my hotel while I was waiting for him two miles away. Lost an hour of tour time because of the confusing instructions. Other than that, my guide Dmytro was courteous and knowledgeable. We spent most of our time at the Caves Monastery, which was very interesting.
This tour was amazing. It was a pleasure spending the day walking this beautiful city with such a knowledgable guide. The commentary was somewhat tailored to my interests and viewing the city through a local's eyes was very special. Wear comfortable shoes and enjoy covering lots of terrain in this wonderful tour.
