Overview

Immerse yourself in the architecture and history of the Milan Duomo and Terraces during this 1.5-hour experience, the only tour with skip-the-line access. Listen to informative commentary regarding the church's history—including some hidden symbols and details—by a guide from Veneranda Fabbrica, the organization tasked with the church's restoration and preservation. Rooftop access allows you walk among the cathedral's spires and admire photo-worthy views of Milan.
  • 1.5-hour skip-the-line tour of the Milan Duomo and terraces
  • Tour guide from Veneranda Fabbrica, the official organization in charge of the Duomo's preservation
  • The only skip-the-line tour of the Milan Duomo includes headsets
  • See the Archaeological Area, the Cathedral and the rooftop terraces
  • See views over Milan and the Alps on a clear day
Meet your guide and tour group in the Piazza Duomo, behind the cathedral. Your guide is a member of the Veneranda Fabbrica, an organization that has been in charge of the cathedral's preservation and restoration for the past six hundred years.
Don your radio headset to ensure you hear your guide clearly, then proceed past the crowds and enter the Archaeological Area, underneath the church itself. Examine the ruins of the Baptistery of St. John and the Church of Santa Tecla, built in the 4th century. This example of an octagonal Christian Baptistery tells the story of Milan during the Roman age. It was demolished in the Medieval Age to make room for the Cathedral and the ruins were discovered in the 1960s.
Proceed inside to the Cathedral itself, one of the largest churches in the world and an example of the Gothic style. Admire artwork in styles from Modern, Baroque, Renaissance and Medieval, as well as 55 stained glass windows and 3400 statues.
Ride the lift up to the roof terraces, where you can snap photos of the decorative sculptures and roof spires. Climb fifty steps further to the highest terrace, which gives views of the main church spire and a golden statue of the Virgin Mary. Admire views over Milan and, on a clear day, the looming Alps in the distance.

a very tough old tour, highly recommended. Our guide moved too fast for the older people in our group and spoke very, very fast. We were okay with it, but just an FYI.

Amazing tour with great access in a smaller group. Be prepared to climb, although there are stages to the climb so you can head down with the guide if you don't want to go all the way to the top. Incredible to get so close to the painted inside of the Dome and see the figures up close.

This was an awesome way to see the most important historical site in Milan. We were ushered to the front of the line for fast entry. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the Duomo and the view of the city from the roof was spectacular.

When I purchased this tour I underestimated the Italian trains running anywhere close to on time and our group missed the tour after a late arrival to the city. However, once we arrived only about 20 minutes late we went straight to the ticket office and explained our situation. The lady at the help desk was so nice and took care of everything. Our tour group had already left and there wasn't a way we could join up with them but we were still able to do the entire tour on our own. Which was fine with my group since we initially thought it wasn't going to be an option. What we also didn't think of when planning the date of the trip was that we were visiting on Palm Sunday so even though we purchased the skip the line tour we had to wait for over an hour due to the crowds and security checks. Thankfully it was a sunny, cool day so the wait wasn't unbearable. And it was totally worth it. If you think that once you've seen a big church in Italy, you've seen the all, you're totally wrong. You need to see the Duomo because it is stunning. I even thought it was more beautiful than the Vatican.

Very knowledgable guide. We spent 90 minutes exploring the terraces, rooftop, interior of the basilica as well as the archaeological area. The guide provided many informative details. The tour was well paced and very pleasant.

The tour itself is good, and I would definitely recommend. However getting the ticket and into the Duomo was absolute chaos!! I think it would have been worse without this pass though. So I would recommend it.
