Rastasafari Experience from Montego Bay

As someone who has traveled the world, I can honestly say this was one of my favorite excursions ever. You will get to experience REAL Jamaica, and get to know some locals. Dale, our driver, was so knowledgeable and the vehicle was clean and comfortable. We met Claude and Phil upon arrival, and were greeted with a shot of Boom, a delicious rum and energy shot. This started the tour off right! Next we met the Bushman. He is 54 years old and looks 35. He is very skilled in herbs and plants and you'll come away learning a bit about how you ARE what you eat. Then we said goodbye to our hosts and made our way up a short hill to meet our guide. Stylie was every bit the cool dude. Laid back and very spiritual, he led the way as we loaded up into our off road side by side. Stylie rode a motocross bike while we followed him through gorgeous jungles and fields. We stopped several times to learn about the scenery, eat some sugar cane, and if you're 4/20, indulge in some extras. All included. We rode into the village and had a beer and hung out with some locals. It was a blast! We learned about how they live and look out for one another. Very spiritual. Once we left the village we stopped for lunch. We're not vegetarian, but let me tell you, you WON'T be disappointed. It was sooooo delicious. It was a full day based on what you want to do. Don't miss out on this experience. You'll never have another one quite like it......

Outstanding experience! Very interesting and informative. Staff friendly and professional. Began tour with refreshing but potent shot of “juice” followed by short presentation by “The Bush Man” on medicinal herbs. Short walk to camp area where we met tour guides and prepared for ATV ride though the mountainous countryside. Equipment was top flight and in good working order. Saw farmland and remnants of sugarcane plantations—along the way passing herds of cattle and goats. Guides were well versed on the history of the plantations and the people of the region and of the Rastafarian lifestyle. Tour included stop to refresh by taking a dip in a crystal clear natural spring that was also being enjoyed by locals who were friendly and welcoming. Also stopped by cannabis farm—ample opportunities to indulge if so inclined. Tour ended with a very tasty vegetarian lunch. Overall very nice tour and different than the usual tourist experience. Caution—ATV can be rough and there is some moderate hiking to be done. Not recommended for those who have physical limitations. Also be prepared to get dirty (dusty) and wet.

HIGHLY recommended to get off your resort and feel the true Jamaican way...Intimately without the tourist crowds. We have fours kids ages:8,10,12 & 15 all agreed best part of the trip

Really a “powerful” experience. Enjoyed it thoroughly. Such beautiful people and even more beautiful country. The only thing people need to be aware of, is it is about a 2-1/2 hour drive from Montego Bay. Long time in a van, but the scenery on the drive is absolutely breathtaking. Great excursion. So much fun!

This was one of the highlights of our trip! The people and the experience was amazing. I would definitely do this again.

Our tour guide Albert/Stylie was great. Very educational tour. Lasted about 3 1/2 hours. Thought we were going swimming in the waterfalls, but just a quick dunk in the artisan spring. Lunch was different, rice was made with coconut milk...I thought it was very good. Would have enjoyed the UTV trails if they were a little smoother, had to go really slow. Glad we went.

Such a cool authentic experience. The whole team was so friendly and accomodating. Phil, Richie, Bobby (?), and Uncle Rasta's food was NEXT LEVEL good! We can't wait to visit Jamaica again and do the cave tour.

Taxi services was good, picked up at hotel was included in the price. Our driver, Andre was nice and told us all the ins and outs of Jamaica. About 1.5 hours from our hotel in Montego Bay. Arrived to the small village and met the owners of the tour. They were nice guys, actually from Canada that loved Jamaica and created jobs for the locals. Their property was really nice, and very accommodating. Started our tour meeting the spice man, which was pretty cool. We then had a delicious home cooked meal. We then hopped on the atvs. They were super nice, but some of the trail was quite bumpy. Our tour guide, Richie was fantastic. He was a local and drove his motorcycle. He never rushed us and answered all of our questions. The things we saw on the tour were fantastic, the natural spring, the valley, the ganja field, and even a community competitive futbol match. Recommend wearing swim trunks, as the natural spring was the best swim of my life. Bring a towel and a camera; small bag wouldn’t hurt. Bring cash, as at each stop u can buy drinks from the locals. And to tip your tour guide, among others you meet on your trip. My dad and I loved the experience and recommend going. We are two adult men, so the experience may be different for children and ladies.

We were greeted by the father and son/owners. They were friendly and warm and offered us a drink/rum and energy drink!! Too strong for a non-drinker/early afternoon. We then were introduced to our guide and taken for the ride. I personally, was not impressed by the scenery and did not find the ride that enjoyable. I am a 65 year old woman, riding on a rough road is not my idea of having fun. If I were younger I might have enjoyed it. Our ride was about 2-3 hours and at the end we were given a nice meal/rice, bean, and fruit. The most interesting part of the tour was seeing the villagers and the way the live. Many people, kids included, were out enjoying the nice weather, talking, listening to music or swimming in little natural lakes along the road. There were herds of goats everywhere and baby goats were adorable, even cuter than puppies !! The kids look healthy/happy and confident, indicating good parenting and a great/strong sense of community. The negatives were the long drive to the location and back/3 hours. The scenery was un-impressive and the cost was very high for what we got. Way too expensive. Also, we were introduced to a guy they called "bush-man" treating different illnesses with herbs. I bought a bag for $ 15.00. Honestly I do not think I am going to use it. He did not come-across as a knowledgeable/trustworthy healer. Check the distance of your hotel to the location especially if you do not like long drives. If scenery is the reason for taking this tour, you will be disappointed. Check other similar tours to find something that is more reasonably priced. We spend close to $ 400.00 for this tour. Not worth it.

This was an adventure. My family and I had a truly wonderful experience. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to get out in the beautiful Jamaican country side. The lunch provided was truly delightful and out guides and host were out standing.
