With its cliff-top position overlooking the sea, bustling port, picturesque bays and panoramic views of the Amalfi Coast and surrounding hills, Sorrento has been a favorite resort since Roman times.
Positano sits in a splendid panoramic position on one of the most beautiful stretches of coastline. Its enchanting town center of delightful pastel-hued houses surrounds the parish church of Santa Maria Assunta, its laneways are lined with quaint, colorful shops and its numerous beaches are world famous.
Amalfi's typically Mediterranean architecture, made up of lanes and characteristic white houses piled one upon the other, makes it one of Italy's most famous resorts.
Ravello is situated in a more elevated position than the other pearls of the Amalfi Coast, boasting exceptional views of the coast and its marvelous villas and gardens.
Our tour started at the port of Naples, Italy. Rosario, our driver, met our group of 7 at the port on time and we boarded a very comfortable van. Rosario was professional from start to finish. He suggested several beautiful places for us to stop and take pictures along the way. He was very patient waiting for us to shop in Sorrento and Positano. Unforfunately, we didn't make it to Ravello because the road near the town was blocked to accomodate a funeral and we worried that we'd be late returning to the cruise ship. It was a wonderful experience and the beautiful restaurant he suggested we have lunch at was fabulous. The view from our sea side table, the delicious food and the wine was a highligh of this excursion.
This tour was one of the highlights of our Italy trip. Pipo was the best chauffeur plus tour guide we could’ve asked for. He was very passionate about the various places we visited and showed us around enthusiastically. We started with Sorrento then went to Positano then Amalfi and also skimmed through Ravello on our way back to Naples.
We were travelling with our 5 years old daughter who was mildly unwell. Pipo made sure that she was comfortable throughout the tour including many unplanned stoppages to accommodate her. Pipo even got her to sit in a Ferrari by talking to its owner at an Autogrill gas station where we had stopped for picking up some snacks for the road. Highly recommended tour!!
My husband and I tried booking a tour through our cruise line to see the Amalfi coast but everything was sold out. I booked a private tour through Viator since the reviews were so good. Peppo picked us up at the cruise terminal at 915am in a very comfortable luxury car. We drove through Naples towards the coast where Peppo pointed out various attractions along the way. We stopped frequently at great spots for photos and Peppo was always there to take pictures of us. Our first stop was in Sorrento. Peppo dropped us off a few minutes from downtown. We had an hour to explore, enjoy a bite at a cafe, and shop. We met Peppo at the pickup location and continued to head up the coast- again, stopping along the way and taking pictures. Our second stop was in Positano. We had 30 min here to explore which was enough time to go in a few shops and take more pictures. After Positano, we headed towards Amalfi. My phone died along the way and Peppo was so nice to stop and get a charger out of the trunk for me to use. We stopped for lunch on our way to Amalfi- the food was amazing! I suggest the ravioli and any fish option! After an hour of lunch, we headed to Amalfi. We parked and had 45 min to explore. We enjoyed the beach quickly, shopping, and some gelato, and of course took all the pictures! We headed up the mountain to Ravello and then made our way back to Naples. Peppo made sure to have us back to the ship in time for boarding. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to see the coast at a slower pace when you are strapped for time. Peppo was very informative and made the tour so authentic! Cheaper than a huge tour bus and so so worth it!!
Rosario (driver) was excellent. Very professional and informative without being intrusive. He was a great driver too. This is a great way to get a taste of the Amalfi coast if you just have a day. Enjoyed it all and worth every penny.
The entire process from booking to finalizing the itinerary details was very smooth. We booked two days in advance and were lucky to get a confirmation the next day. The booking company was responsive and our driver, Rossario, was very accommodating to our location needs. Although he couldn't meet right next to our AirBnB, he was able to pick us up (early) from a hotel that was a 3 minute walk.
This experience was elevated because of Rossario. He was very kind and pleasant throughout the day and would coordinate with us on timing instead of pushing or limiting our time in certain areas. We let him know that we wanted to spend more time in Amalfi and none in Ravella, which he was very open to. Also, we asked for him to suggest a lunch place with a view, and we could not have been more pleased. He was sweet enough to get us all Limoncello at the end of our meal. He was also a great guide to ask questions to and learn more about the area. He's done this job for most of his career, so he was very knowledgeable.
Thank you so much, Rossario, for being an awesome driver and guide throughout our day!!
We only booked a tour with a driver and not a guide, an english driver though. As expected the driver could not speak english which was no big deal. On the way we stopped at some nice places with magnificant views. However, I read that you could make your own planning for how long you could stay where but our driver was not willing to accomodate and just kept going with his planning. We wanted to stay longest in positano but the driver almost wanted to skip it because he just did not like driving there. So that was a shame. The rest of the tour was nice the small towns were beautiful each more than the other. If you are short on time this tour is really recommendable if you have a more accomodating driver. I would not stop in amalfi and stay longer in positano as a tip. In amalfi there is not much to do, but he planned for us so that we stayed longest there. All in all, short time everywhere (some an hour, some only 30 min) but its like getting a taste of all these nice places without worrying to get there and parking. Because driving there on your own is close to impossible with your own car at least.
