The Nassau Food Tasting and Cultural Walking Tour were a highlight of our trip! My husband and I could not have been happier with the experience that Captain Ron gave us! It was above and beyond what we expected. His personality, humor, deep understanding and love for his country are evident. We would hands down repeat this tour and I have already recommended it to others traveling to the area soon.
My wife and I did this tour last week and we enjoyed our selves. The food and drinks were ranging from good to excellent. This tour is a good way to introduce your self to the Bahamian food and the downtown food scene. I would also recommend you to do it early on your visit to the Bahamas.
It could also be useful to know that that the tour does not cover that much of the Nassau history and landmarks. If you want that as well, you could do another tour later on in your Bahamas trip.
Captain Ron was a great tour guide, super knowledgeable, and friendly. We tasted delicious food from all over downtown Nassau and got a great glimpse of the culture of the island! We would definitely recommend this to any couple or family visiting the area.
If you have an opportunity to tour Nassau with Cap'n Ron, do it. Do not give it a second thought. Top 5 of any tour I have ever been on and most likely the top tour guide. Thanks very much Cap'n Ron, you are awesome!
It was better than walking around port and port area of Nassau

Easy to book and reasonably priced. Fairly easy to find meeting point. Captain Ron was pleasant, amusing, easy to understand, and informative. The food left something to be desired. Having Conch at the first stop was fine. It was deep fried and didn’t have too bad a taste. We were then served a traditional Bahamian meal. It too was just edible. Very little flavor. If this is the way Bahamians eat I guess that is the way it is. There were two more stops for Conch. There were Conch sliders at another stop. It was awful, I couldn’t eat more than one bite. My husband, a chef, took a bite, took out the rest of the Conch and ate the bread and lettuce. There was Conch chowder at another stop. I did not eat any after the first bite it was so bad. Also, we were told that our water would be bottled and at this stop it was most definitely not. We watched the server take the water from a tap. We had two little tiny pieces of chocolate at another stop. They were delicious. A piece of white chocolate and a piece of curried dark chocolate. This was surprisingly good. We had a stop at a very dilapidated hotel for a drink. I was given a non-alcoholic drink because I don’t drink. It was tasty. My husband said his alcoholic beverage was good too. The last stop for food was a rum cake store. They make cake there. Everyone was served a tiny piece of a style of rum cake. It was ok. I needed change to tip Captain Ron and they would not break a $20. Captain Ron was able to give me change but a portion of it was Bahamian currency. So we had to be sure to spend it before getting back on the ship. All in all I am happy we booked the tour though because we saw a couple of interesting sites and learned some facts about the Bahamas. They just need to do something about the food. It is supposed to be a food tour after all.
Great cultural tour by Captain Ron. Ron is very knowledgeable and entertaining and the food was great. We learned a lot about the culture of the Bahamas and would not have known it without going to this tour.
We enjoyed learning more about the local culture. The food we tried was very good, and definitely lived up to the hype of covering lunch. I wish there were more opportunities to try different rum cocktails since we only got to do that at one place. There were a couple times that we arrived at our designated locations and they weren't ready for us, so we had to stand around and wait. On the flip side, there were a few places that we walked right into. Overall, it was a great way to see the city and learn about its history and culture while trying several local dishes.
If you enjoy learning cultural history and eating authentic Bahamian food, this is the tour for you. Both my wife and I had a great time and enjoyed learning a bit of local history from our tour guide, Joy. Joy is very knowledgable on Bahamian food and culture, not to mention a whole bunch of fun. Thanks for the memories!
