I truly wish I could give this experience 10 stars, it was that good. Based on this trip I will absolutely use Viator again.

The excursions were meticulously organized and left no detail unchecked. We accidentally missed the hotel pickup van by a couple minutes and after one panicked phone call they sent a taxi to pick us up and bring us to the main meeting spot, and on their expense...no questions asked. Furthermore, the buses are very nice--clean, outfitted with a bathroom, and even have tvs which you use on the Auschwitz-Birkenau portion of the trip.

The Salt Mines were spectacular and the guide was a fount of information. There were opportunities all throughout the trip for bathroom breaks as well as a really cool cafe in the depths of the mines where we were provided a snack break. The mines are kept at a very comfortable temperature and are clean as a whistle. Overall, it was great fun and an interesting way to beat the heat!

After a couple hours pause began the Auschwitz-Birkenau segment, which was very different in nature, of course. It's certainly mentally and emotionally gripping, but a must-do in your lifetime. On the ride there, we viewed a film taken after the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau which detailed the horrors the soldiers witnessed and gave testimony to the inhumanities seen by those who experienced the camps. The film concluded just as we approached the entrance to the museum and suddenly you're there in the very place you'd been watching in black and white. Guides are arranged according to the language you speak, which is a really nice touch. After touring the first site of the camp, you board the bus again and are taken to Birkenau. Words really can't describe the impact of being there in person--and particularly later in the day, as the sunlight is starting to fade and casts a sad glow across the endless camp. Poignant. Our driver spoke a few touching words on the way back, talked of never forgetting what happened there And we won't.
