Max out the adrenaline (and the fun) during this full-day adventure combining a white-water rafting trip and zipline excursion. Zoom through the rain forest canopy during a series of heart-pounding zipline rides, some on cable spans as long as 3,200 feet (980 meters). Then battle the Class II and III rapids of the Balsa River. Lunch, snacks, and rafting gear are all included.
  • Combine a zipline course and white-water rafting on this outdoor adventure
  • Zoom through the rain forest canopy at speeds of up to 40 mph (70 kph)
  • Ride one zipline that's more than 3,200 feet (980 meters) long
  • Challenge the Class II and III rapids of the Balsa River
  • Includes typical Costa Rican lunch served at a traditional country estate
  • All rafting gear and round-trip hotel transport is covered
  • Perfect day of adrenaline and outdoor fun
Receive a morning pickup from your hotel in the La Fortuna area, after which you transfer to your first activity of the day, featuring an exciting zipline adventure through the rain forest canopy.

Strap into your harness and don a helmet as your instructors explain the basics of controlling your speed on the park’s ziplines. Then prepare for fun (and perhaps some adrenaline too) as you fly at speeds of up to 40 miles per hour (70 kilometers per hour) amidst the rain forest treetops like a jungle bird, taking advantage of seven of the zipline course’s best rides. One ride requires a climb up a 54-foot (18-meter) high tower followed by 360-foot (120-meter) ride over a scenic canyon. Another zipline features more than 3,200 feet (980 meters) of cable above La Fortuna Waterfall, making it the longest in the entire park.

After your zipline adventure, hop aboard the trip’s 4x4 jeep and enjoy an included fruit snack as you head to the Balsa River. When you arrive at the white-water rafting spot, put on your gear and get an introduction to safe paddling and rafting commands from your guides. Then climb into your raft and prepare to get wet along the Class II and III rapids of this fast-moving waterway. You might even scout sloths, toucans, and monkeys in the surrounding jungle, and have time to spare for a refreshing swim.

When the rafting trip is done, head to the day’s included lunch spot, where you dig into a typical Costa Rican-style meal served at a traditional country estate. Following lunch, receive a ride back to your hotel in La Fortuna, to be dropped off in the late afternoon.

This fun-filled Class II-III white water rafting tour and zipline tree-top canopy combo tour begins with pickup at your La Fortuna hotel (please note: there will be an additional charge for hotels outside the immediate La Fortuna area). The bus may stop at other hotels to pick up participants. Shoes that stay on your feet are a must, and please make sure they're appropriate. Sorry, no flip-flops allowed!. Also make sure to pack a backpack with change of clothing and toiletry articles. Prepare for the first half of your exciting outdoor experience as guides instruct you on the ins and outs of controlling your speed on the ziplines. Soon you’ll be ready to soar across the rainforest with the assistance of well-trained canopy guides, where you'll glide along the seven most extreme zipline cables of the park. Begin with an adrenaline filled climb up an 18-meter high tower (54 feet) to fly 120 meters (360 feet) high over the canyon - the highest place in the park. You will cross a hanging bridge to the longest cable -- 980 meters (0.6 miles) -- high above La Fortuna Waterfall with great views of downtown La Fortuna. Finally you will glide across the cables at high speeds -- up to 70 km/hr (43 mph)! At the end of this section, your guides will provide a delicious tropical fruit snack before you begin your next adventure on this combo tour. Jump back in the 4x4 vehicle waiting to take you to the Balsa River where the day’s excitement is kept alive with an action-packed ride down the Class II-III rapids of the Rio Balsa. Once you arrive at the rafting "put-in" spot on the banks of the Rio Balsa, your guides and safety kayakers will instruct you on how to paddle, the basic moves, commands and safety procedures you will need to know before you embark on a wet and exciting ride. As you raft down the beautiful Balsa River, drink in the majestic foliage of the rain forest as you watch for monkeys, sloths and toucans while you raft. Enjoy a swim, tropical fruits and cold drinks during your break from the action. After loading the gear on the bus, you will leave for your lunch spot, which is a tour on its own. A delicious, typical lunch is served at a traditional country estate designed for guests to truly experience Costa Rica’s peaceful country life. You will come to understand the meaning of Costa Rica’s favorite saying, “Pura Vida!” After you finish lunch, you will ride back toward the town of Fortuna. You will have plenty to talk about tonight as you recount your thrilling experiences from this day that is sure to be the highlight of your vacation in Costa Rica. The bus will drop you back off at your La Fortuna hotel between 4 and 4:30 pm.

The zipline tour was absolutely amazing. I have a fear of heights so I was pretty nervous but the instructor was completely understanding and helped me get over my fear. The zip lining itself was surreal and majestic. The rafting was so much fun!! We saw some animals (sloth, iguanas). Totally recommend this combo tour!! The lunch was also really tasty.
Great family experience.

A mother daughter trip to Costa Rica. A day with zip lining and WWR. Wave Adventures is a very professional outfitter. Our transfers were in time and the drivers great. In both our outings the drivers pulled over to show us something cool on the side of the road. A sloth and an owl. Our guide for Zip Lining was Fabian 2. I give him a A+. He did everything right as far as making us feel safe as well as being a fun easy person to spend the morning with. Our guide for our Kayak trip was Carlos and he was awesome also. He was professional, thorough and personable. On the river Rovell was in charge. Again, professional and fun.the river was just right for the two of us and the sights along the way (sloths, iguanas, owls and iguanas). The ohitos from the river were worth the price. We also enjoyed the lunch, the food was incredible and the coffee and sugar cane demonstrations. Wave Expeditions is a well run machine. Was a great day and worth every penny.
