Our driver was late picking us up & when we arrived to the Marina we were told the VIP was not available as the couldn’t sell Lobster. They did offer refund of the VIP portion but that hasn’t been finalized yet. There is a local in the shop on Catalina Isle named Johnny that is probably one of our favorite locals we met. Snorkeling was ok, not a lot of fish & coral looked unhealthy. The boat ride back was extremely chopping & rough. Don’t sit st the front of the boat, you’ll get soaked &/or sick. BBQ lunch was mediocre at best. The photographer was the most friendly of the boat staff.
We used the entire hour and a half we were given to explore the reef when the boat first anchored down in the snorkel spot. The reef was in good condition and there was a fair number and variety of fish. After that, the boat took us to the beach at Isla Catalina to enjoy a filling buffet lunch, some mixed drinks and some relaxation time on the beach. We were told that you can snorkel near the coastline but the coral did not look healthy and there were very few fish. Aside from that, the boat crew members were fun and friendly, and overall the experience was very enjoyable. A recommendation I have is that in the confirmation email they tell people not apply sunscreen before the tour and that they provide bottles of coral-friendly (zinc based) sunscreen on the boat for tourists to put on. This is in order to maintain the marine life healthy.
This was an amazing day for us. The weather was perfect, water was clear and warm, the staff provided very specific instructions throughout the day.
The lunch bar-b-que went beyond out expectations - nice variety on the buffet and 3 choices of meat that was delicious.
This was certainly a bargain for the small cost and we felt relaxed at the end of our day with this tour.
The staff was super friendly and very professional- we had some rough waters and quite a few sick travelers, but they helped as best they could and made sure to get those who were ill off the boat first. They even assisted while on the beach!
I booked this excursion for my husband's 30th birthday, and brought a few family members as well mostly in our 30's and one 1.5 year old. Overall, we did enjoy ourselves and had a fun time. However I will say it was not quite what I expected. We were not on the catamaran that was described, and our snorkeling tour somehow became combined with a diving group. We were each able to do our own thing, however the divers definitely ate into the snorkelers time as it takes them much longer to surface/gear up/return to the boat, etc. The best snorkeling was on the private island - which was beautiful!!!! The staff was very friendly, and the lunch was delicious and plentiful. As I said, overall we enjoyed ourselves. I do not feel like it was described very well though, or explained the day of.
We had a great experience on this trip! Can't say enough about the staff - they were helpful, friendly and just a pleasure to interact with. We especially enjoyed being on the little island. The food was delicious! We enjoyed snorkeling from the shore rather than out in the open waters. There was an abundance of colorful fish to observe. I would highly recommend this excursion to anyone of any age.
Absolutely wonderful experience! The crew could not have been more helpful or attentive.. Even with a downpour and lightning...the crew remained so professional and kept everyone safe. Chantel was an amazing hostess. The beach hut, food, and drinks were a highlight!
This is a great excursion for experienced snorkelers. The staff is excellent in accommodating passengers and is very welcoming to everyone. However, when we got to the snorkel spot it was basically: here's some gear, go at it. Luckily, I know how to snorkel but for the beginners there were no instructions regarding how to use any of the equipment or any suggestions regarding how to snorkel. At the second site, the beach, guests were encouraged to go snorkeling again but there was no supervision in the water for any of the snorkelers as the staff was on the beach serving drinks and preparing lunch.
