Visit Calmsley Hill to see kangaroos, emus, wombats and koalas
After morning pickup at select central Sydney hotels, your small group travels in a comfortable minivan to the outskirts of Sydney. The first stop of the day is at Calmsley Hill, a working farm also home to kangaroos, emus, wombats, and koalas. Enjoy morning tea and time to wander at your leisure. Next, travel to a lookout where you can enjoy sweeping views of Jamison Valley before heading to Eaglehawk Lookout to see the famous rock formation known as the Three Sisters. Your guide shares local Aboriginal legends about the formation and shows you the best spots for photo ops. Stop for lunch in the town of Medlow Bath, where the Hydro Majestic Hotel sits overlooking Megalong Valley. You have the option to include a 2-course lunch at the hotel restaurant, which features fine regional foods and sweeping views from large picture windows. Drinks are not included but can be purchased during lunch. Alternatively, your guide can recommend places to eat if you do not wish to include meals. Continue exploring a number of scenic lookouts in the afternoon, including the celebrated Govetts Leap, which boasts great views of Bridal Veil Falls, a waterfall that cascades 590 feet (180 meters) down a forested cliff. Wrap up with a walk through the Blue Mountains Botanic Gardens Mt. Tomah where you can see more than 40,000 types of cool climate plant species from gardens that overlook the Blue Mountains. Your tour ends with return to Sydney in the late afternoon.
Great day trip. We started by visiting a city farm where one of the keepers, Ryan, introduced us to a number of native species. They were so well cared for, and he so knowledgeable and sympathetic that it didn’t feel exploitive. Then our guide, Axel, continued to drive us around the region. The group was small enough for personal attention and he got us to some less crowded vantage points. As vegetarians we really appreciated the option for lunch. All in all, a well run, highly recommended tour!
The weather was the a washout with the mountains being essentially shrouded in clouds but our guide, Clint, with his insightful commentary, saved the ride and the other sites were thoroughly enjoyable. Loved the Featherdale Wildlife especially and the lunch which was quite good.
Our trip to the Blue mountains started off with the morning being very foggy. Our first stop was at Featherdale Wildlife Park. We were to have breakfast with the koalas, but that had been canceled. In place of that they gave us a 25 photo opportunity with a koala, which I would rather of had. The park was great. Then we headed into the mountains but was so foggy we couldn't see anything. Our guide Lindsey was great. He took us to great place for lunch, the sun had come out and the views were spectacular. After lunch he took us on the other side of mountains where we had some champagne and some more beautiful views. Was a good day. I would definitely recommend this trip
Guide was very good, and shared lots of interesting information - although we later learned of factual errors in some of what he said. But a small quibble... Trip was beautiful, and we really enjoyed the Featherdale Wildlife Park. We arrived right at opening, which made for a great experience. A lot fitted into the day, which was great. If possible, however, we really recommend spending a night in the mountains. One couple in our group took the day trip up one day and another day trip back the second day. They raved about what they'd seen, and we wished we'd been able to do this. But for a compact look at the area, we HIGHLY recommend.
Picked up and dropped off on time.
Tour guide was amazing was so informative.
Could have done with more time in the wildlife park as 40 minutes was not enough.
Will recommend to all!
Great tour! We had the breakfast option at Featherdale Wildlife Park and it was completely enchanting to spend time with Archer the koala bear in a private setting. It was the highlight of our entire Sydney trip! Just wish we had even more time to tour all of this wonderful park! The Blue Mountains were lovely. We had a very nice lunch at the Hydro Majestic but wished we had a little more time to tour this historic hotel. Loved the botanical park and the tour guide took us in the country to see local wildlife where we spotted kangaroos! It was a great all day tour and everything was so wonderful to see, we only wish we had more time at each place, but then we would have been gone until midnight!
For me the highlight of this tour was a visit to Featherdale Wildlife Park. Feed wallabys, enjoyed the Kangaroos and other animals native to Australia. The view from Eaglehawk of the 3 Sisters is awe inspiring. Drove around other scenic lookouts in the Blue Mountains and had a very pleasant day.
