Arrive at a designated meeting location in the Tromso city center (the Radisson BLU Hotel) 15 minutes before the designated departure time. Bring a scarf or snow goggles if it's snowing heavily, and wear your warmest clothes. Use of the facility's extra-warm clothes and boots are included, if you prefer.
Climb into a comfortable tour vehicle, and take off for Kvaloya, one of Norway’s largest islands. You'll arrive at the Tromso Wilderness Centre to meet more than 350 Alaskan huskies, who are well-cared for and are right at home pulling a loaded dogsled through Norway's snowy, icy conditions. You'll also get the opportunity to meet the facility's new puppies.
During your 1-hour dogsled ride, a small guest-to-guide ratio ensures personalized attention and that your sled will be driven by a professional musher. You'll stop halfway through the course for photos and a short break in the scenic wilderness. Return to the base, and group around the campfire for a hearty Norwegian meal of bidos, a soup made with reindeer meat, vegetables, and broth. Vegetarian options are available.
This trip runs in almost all weather conditions; in the case of extreme weather, you can opt for a refund, rescheduling, or a different activity.
After four hours, you'll be dropped back at the Tromso city center, near the Radisson BLU Hotel.
