Rua Barbosa do Bocage, Sintra

The Basics

Visitors who experience Sintra on a guided tour from Lisbon benefit from a tour guide’s insight and included transportation. Popular attractions within this UNESCO World Heritage Site include the Museum of Modern Art, Monserrate Palace (Palacio de Monserrate), Pena National Palace, Castle of the Moors, and the beautiful Gothic architecture of the Quinta da Regaleira. While it’s possible to spend an entire day (or week) in this captivating town, travelers with limited time can also combine a visit to Sintra with stops at other nearby points of interest, such as Praia Grande, Cascais, Guincho Beach, or the wineries of Colares.

This trip is well worth...
This trip is well worth it, seeing 3 locations within the day on the tour was so convenient. All the sites were beautiful and we was given time to view as a tour but also alone. The guide was very knowledgeable of information regarding the sites but also facts on Portugal too.

Sintra Private Tour
Miguel was a fantastic tour guide from beginning to end. Our private tour in his clean comfortable new van took us all over Sintra. We were able to spend as much or as little time as we wanted at each historical site. Miguel was knowledgeable about the history, but also the best places to visit and the best times to see each site. We were very pleased with the flexibility and the value for the price. Highly recommend.

Small group tour to Sintra, Pena Palace, Regaleira, Cabo da Roca and Cascais
Had a great day exploring Pena Palace, Regaleira, and Cabo da Roca with Caio. Caio was personable and humorous. He gave us a brief history of each location then gave plenty of time to explore on our own. He remained in good contact with the group via text to keep us on schedule. He had great recommendations for traditional pastries in Sintra as well as restaurants for lunch in the seaside town of Cascais. We had a great time with Caio and would highly recommend the tour.

Sintra and Cascais Small-Group Day Trip from Lisbon
While I was the only English speaker on my trip (due to demand), Rui did a great job to toggle between languages to keep everyone engaged. Sintra was a great change from Lisbon - historical, picturesque, charming, etc.

Sintra - Cascais Tour! Only tour that visit 2 palaces in Sintra!
I’m so glad we took this tour. Yes, it’s possible to do Sintra and Cascais on your own, but we would have missed so many experiences that Nuno gave us. The hidden treasures, the stories, and most of all, just a fun day! Other group members were nice to hang out with as well.

Private tour Sintra Half day 5 hours
Luis was the best! Since I was doing the trip solo we ended up just randomly going everywhere. I did not want to stick to a script. We basically were hanging out as friends. I am not a guided tour type of person so this was perfect. He knows everyone in Sintra from the coffee shops to the sites. Great guy! Incredibly knowledgeable and a lot of fun. If you ever do this tour request Luis!!!

Sintra Half Day Wonders – Group Van Tour
Ruben was our guide. We have 2 young kids with us. The ride to Sintra was nice. We thought about taking the train from Lisbon but glad we got a guide. It would have been to hard to travel by ourselves to the destinations.

When to Get There

For the best experience and minimal crowds, plan to visit early in the day, midweek, and outside of the summer high season. Classical music lovers gather in late spring and early summer, when the Sintra Festival takes place and concerts are hosted all over town.
