Ciara was our guide and she was absolutely fantastic! She brought great energy, passion and education to the tour. Her knowledge and intricacies of Van Gogh, his life and art was superb. We really enjoyed this tour with Ciara and appreciate the education and insights she gave.
We had a great time with Victoria. My kids really enjoyed it and learned so much. They’ve expressed an interest in wanting to know more and see more art. My husband and I are very pleased. Money and time well spent!
Figuring out how to meet the tour guide was the hardest part of this tour! We stood out in the pouring rain by the "I" at the I Amsterdam sign, but did not see any signage or indication of the tour. Furthermore, there were lots of people taking photos at the "I" sign which added to confusion. When it reached 1 pm, we decided to inquire at the ticket line for direct access which we thought would include us. When we inquired, we were told to go directly to the museum which we did.Once inside and after going through coat check, we still did not see the group. By that time, it was already 20 minutes past our start time of 1 PM. The kind lady at the information desk informed us that we were using a tour operator not directly associated with the Van Gogh Museum. She let us use her cell phone to contact Babylon Tours.Babylon Tours came through! After explaining the situation, we were told to wait 10 minutes and that Hank would meet us. Sure enough he arrived and proceeded to give us a very detailed and private tour. We thought that we would be taken to the rest of the group which would have been fine.We can't say enough about Hank. He is very knowledgeable and patient. He answered all our questions and took us through the various floors, explaining certain paintings. Bravo for Hank and Babylon Tours for giving us an excellent and memorable event.
our small group guide was american and highly knowledgeable - enough so to know the history, the back stories and best angles for the museum. although no photos are allowed buy the postcard at the giftshop - it's a better photo anyway, this tour is excellent. we're headed back this year and will book this soon.
