Many travelers assume that once they’ve seen one section of the Great Wall of China, they’ve seen it all, not realizing that each section is distinctive. Visit three of the world wonder’s most impressive sections on a private, self-guided full day tour of the Huanghuacheng, Xiangshuihu, and Mutianyu sections from Beijing. Relish the convenience of pickup and drop-off and enjoy hiking through the lush landscapes that surround each part of the Great Wall.
  • Private full day self-guided tour of three Great Wall of China sections from Beijing
  • Spend free time exploring the distinctive Huanghuacheng, Xiangshuihu, and Mutianyu sections
  • Absorb striking natural landscapes and opt to take a cable car ride over the wall for an additional expense
  • Pickup and drop-off are included
Your self-guided tour begins with pickup from your Beijing accommodation between 7:30am and 8:30am. Here, you’ll board a private vehicle destined for the Huanghuacheng section of the Great Wall of China.
Following a 1.5-hour drive, you’ll have free time to hike the rugged routes of the section, considered by photographers as the Great Wall’s most beautiful. Due to the remoteness of Huanghuacheng, you’ll have more chance of snapping crowd-free photos.
Reconvene with your driver for the 40-minute journey to  Xiangshuihu section, set against a lush forest and former dam, and spend your free time enjoying beautiful natural landscapes.
Your final stop is Mutianyu, one of the most famous sections of the Great Wall of China. Opt to take a cable car to Tower 14 or, if you’re a thrill seeker, take a chairlift to the top of Tower 6 before tobogganing down.
Conclude the tour with drop-off at your Beijing accommodation at around 5:30pm.

This trip was even better than anticipated! Sam from Loe's tours in Beijing was an excellent driver. He actually guided us on our
first leg of this adventure. My grandson and I had the best experience on this tourist free section of the wall.
I highly recommend this tour if you want to get off the beaten path and get a feel for the more touristy section of the wall. The bobsled ride down at the end was fantastic.

Great tour. I chose this tour because it offered multiple sections of the Great Wall, and I wanted more than a half-day tour. This tour was perfect for my girlfriend and me.

The day before our tour date, the tour company texted me to arrange the pick-up time from my hotel. They (and I) recommend an early start to beat the Beijing traffic out of the city. It was a Saturday morning and we had a 7:40 a.m. pick-up. Our driver, Mr. Ma, was on time, he was very friendly, and he knew his way around. It was a nearly 2-hour drive to Huanghuacheng, which was what I expected. Approaching Huanghuacheng you can see the Wall in the distance; this is a perspective of the Wall worth seeing also. Driving through the villages in the foothills along the way provided some of its own scenery too. Once we arrived, it was a short hike to get to the Wall. Mr. Ma accompanied us for a little bit to direct us along the right path, then we were off to explore on our own, with a rendezvous time back at the car. Huanghuacheng was quite scenic, and it was not crowded. It was my favorite out of the three sections.

From there, it was off to Xiangshuihu section (Moshikou Pass). This had the steepest section by far, but it was a fun climb. This was a much smaller section due to the steep terrain. Some sections of the wall in the distance were in disrepair and closed off, but it was not a problem. Finally, on to Mutianyu. This was definitely the much more visited section of the Wall… even touristy you might say. It was certainly more crowded than the previous sections, but this was the reason to visit the different sections… it was nice to have the comparison between them. Here was a visitor’s center, merchants selling their goods and souvenirs, and restaurants. Ride the shuttle bus up to another staging area and then ride the chair lift up to the wall. I imagined what the task to reach the wall was like centuries ago before our modern conveniences. Pretty daunting. Mutianyu, like the other sections, was amazing. Just more people. Especially the line to ride the toboggan down. Budget your time at Mutianyu to allow for the toboggan line. It was long, but it moved fairly quickly, and it was worth the wait. Everybody in line was having a good time anyway watching the action ahead of them and waiting their turn. At the bottom, we connected to the shuttle bus again and met Mr. Ma upon exiting the bus. By this time it was nearing the end of the day and we picked up some food on the way out. We got back to the hotel around 5 or 6 pm, and Beijing traffic in the evening was worse than in the morning.

Overall, if you want to see more than one section of the wall, do this tour. Plan for the whole day. It worked perfectly for what I wanted. I appreciate that there were no shopping stops. And again, compliments to Mr. Ma who helped make the trip relaxing and worry-free.

This was our second tour with a personal guide and it was every bit as fantastic as our first!! Jason was a wonderful person to meet and spend a day with as he showed us three breath-taking sections of the Great Wall. We were away from the crowd, in fact at two of the sections we were the only people on the wall!! This gave us time to really appreciate the beauty of this wonder as well as have photos without other tourists in them! He knew so much about the Great Wall and gave us time and space to really appreciate the history and sheer magnificence of the Wall. Jason is an intelligent, well spoken guide who was interested in comparing life in China to life in Australia. He guided us away from the over populated tourist places and gave us a tour to remember. When we did get to a popular tourist place, he made positive suggestions as to where to go and what to do. Taking the chair lift up and toboggan ride down at our last stop on the Wall saved us time and gave us another unique experience of this remarkable Great Wall. Highly recommend that you contact Jack for a tour in this area. You will not be disappointed in any way.
