Why Travelers Choose This Tour

This tour includes options for both first-time and certified divers at two Great Barrier Reef dive sites.
After boarding your deluxe boat, which seats a max of 100 people, including your experienced guides, your Great Barrier Reef day trip starts with the boat ride from Cairns out to the reef—one of the fastest rides from Cairns, with just more than an hour of cruising time.

Depending on the weather and water conditions on the day of your tour, your guides will head to one of 12 exclusive moorings at six reef locations, providing you with the best possible on-the-water experience that day. Most likely, you’ll visit one of the Outer Great Barrier Reef spots like Saxon Reef or Norman Reef in the morning, and then continue to North Hastings Reef in the afternoon.

Upon arrival at your first location, hop in the water with your provided snorkeling equipment for a look at multicolored fish, coral and other marine life. Instruction is provided for beginners, and your knowledgeable crew members are on hand to encourage and help you, if needed. Then snorkel again at your second location. If you’d rather not get wet, you can still check out this World Heritage–listed underwater world on a tour by semi-submersible vessel (own expense; payable on the day of your tour).

During your time on the barrier reef you can refuel with an onboard buffet lunch of Australian barbecue items such as fresh fish, sausages and steak, plus a selection of pastas, salads and prawns. On the return trip to Cairns, snack on a platter of cheese and fruit while members of your talented crew provide live music and entertainment to celebrate the end of your day on the sea.

Very organised and professional reef cruise. Staff are very friendly and helpful. When to snorkel, ended up having a scuba diver. I was fantastic, reef not what it once was. But excellent day

Very impressed with staff. Went out of the way to show us a great time. Very helpful to non-swimmers by leading us to reefs with aide of a float. Lunch was excellent and filling. Again, went out of the way for vegetarians. Stunning views of reefs from two spots. Thoroughly enjoyed the adventure!
Fabulous experience!

What an incredible experience. A great outing with family or friends. The tour is well organized and they think of just about everything. The only frustration for us was the lack of time to look at the photos taken by staff, and to purchase those we wanted before we docked. There were a limited number of ipads circulated for guests to view hundreds of photos of our day. More screens and more staff to take orders, would improve the process.
What a great day!!

My husband & I have never took a dive course before however diving the Great Barrier Reef was & has been on our bucket list for many years. I must say that the Down Under crew were amazing @ orchestrating such a great time for everyone! Side note: it’s the nicest boat in the harbor. Well kept & clean vessel. Daniel was our intro dive instructor & he did a great job calming me & my husband ensuring that we succeeded @ our first dive! The reef was beautiful, happy to have seen it with my husband! The lunch was sub par, i’d Advise you to bring snacks. Participate in as many photos & have great memories to bring back home, along with professional photos of the reef. The ship had 137 people the day we went & it never felt crowded. The options are plentiful, you can dive, snorkel, take a helicopter tour, or even do a semi-submarine. We just did an intro dive @ first stop, and snorkeled the second. Loved seeing it both ways. Other crew members to mention that provided excellent service were Cedrick & Tom. Thank you all for making our experience one to remember!
Good cruise but not spectacular

The cruise staff could not have been better at customer service - all were helpful, happy, and efficient. The diving wasn't spectacular compared with other sites we've been (in terms of number of both fish and coral), but the formations were impressive.
Greet Barrier Reef excursion was a blast!!!

Great, accommodating staff, knowledgeable and made the trip comfortable. We very much enjoyed it, in spite of a bit of sea sickness!!! The reef was spectacular as we saw a variety of fish, and a giant sea turtle came right up to us! Would HIGHLY recommend

Out of so many options available to see the Great Barrier reef we chose Down Under with the Heli tour. Wonderful experience, plenty of time to snorkel, crew was hard working and really nice, heli tour was ok if you haven't done a heli ride before. If you're not a swimmer you can still snorkel on a guided tour with one of the crew members. Only recommendation would be to cater some food options for little kids. Lunch was just OK, our 4 and 9 year old didn't really eat anything for hours on the boat, but they enjoyed the snorkeling. If the food was a little better along with some options for kids, it would have been perfect. Photos are expensive as usual.
