Climb aboard an air-conditioned minivan at your Cairns hotel and relax during the scenic drive to Tjapukai Aboriginal Cultural Park, during which you’ll pass through sugarcane fields in the shadow of the Kuranda Range.
On arrival at Tjapukai Aboriginal Cultural Park, receive a welcome face painting and listen to an educational presentation detailing the artistic traditions and history of aboriginal communities.
Watch a cooking presentation using a bayngga (clay oven), enjoy a Tjapukai dance performance, and learn about how natural ingredients are used as medicine and sustenance in the rainforest. The dulcet tones of a didgeridoo flood your ears during a performance, and then you’ll have the chance partake in boomerang- or spear-throwing activities.
After a performance of a dance derived from the Torres Strait, you’ll proceed to Palm Cove to spend the afternoon as you wish. Take a long walk along the sandy stretch of coast, rent a kayak or Jet Ski (own expense), or simply recline beneath an umbrella and watch the waves.
At a time prearranged with your guide, return to your vehicle and relax during the journey back to your Cairns hotel.
