Head to Chamonix Sud bus station at 7:30am to board your coach, then travel through the Arve Valley. After a short stop in Geneva, you’ll continue to Lausanne to see the International Olympic Committee building. Travel on to the town of Vevey, and head inside Chaplin’s World, a museum dedicated to Charlie Chaplin. Built at the filmmaker’s former home, the site celebrates the life and works of the famous silent film comedian.
Next, you’ll take a trolley tour through the UNESCO-protected wine road of Lavaux. The vineyard region, decked with terraces, is a great place to sample some of the local produce. Do just that and try cheese, wine, and grape juice amid the vines. Afterward, you’ll take a tour of Vevey, visiting the Nestlé headquarters and an indoor market.
Enjoy some free time for lunch, then cruise around Lake Geneva by belle epoque steamer. Stop to visit the 11th-century Chillon Castle, which sits on an islet on the lake’s western side. The island fortress was strategic for trade, and its dungeons were said to have inspired Lord Byron.
Hop off your steamer boat at Montreux, the glitzy town that’s been a mecca for writers, artists, and musicians since the 19th century. Hear tales of Freddie Mercury, who made the town his home, then visit Mountain Studios where Queen recorded their last album. After free time to browse the boutiques of Montreux Old Town, you’ll return to your coach.
Your day trip ends with a drop-off at the start point in Chamonix.
