What To Expect

Start your dinner tour of Christchurch from Cathedral Junction, where you board the beautifully restored Christchurch Tramway. Professional waitstaff take you to your 2-person or 4-person table in the air-conditioned tramcar restaurant, which holds a maximum of 36 guests.

You’re served a welcome drink, followed by a 4-course meal prepared with a seasonal menu (see sample in Itinerary below). Coffee and tea service accompanies dessert, and alcoholic drinks are available to purchase. Relax as you dine, chat with your companions and take in the sights of central Christchurch.

After dinner, the tram makes its way back to Cathedral Junction where your tour ends. (Click on the 'View additional info' link below to see a map of the tram route.)

Really loved this unique dining experience, the history of the tram, the fantastic staff, quality of the food and service, the selection of the matched wines, were all exceptional. This was our first time on the dining cart and we've been living in Christchurch for over a decade. We won't wait that long to come back though, it was such a lovely evening.

The experience of travelling on a tram and dining was nice but there was no commentary of different icons that we went through, a bit of soft music wuld have been nice, great service, meals were okay, the sights were repetitive(3 an a half times)around

We have an all day tram service which offers a full commentary service around town if you were looking for some more information around Christchurch. The whole experience was fantastic! The meal was great, the staff were all very courteous and professional, and the tram ride itself was an awesome way to see Christchurch on our first eveningthere. Would recommend to everyone, and would go back myself if in Christchurch again.

Wonderful food, service and experience. My friend enjoyed the wine matching with the meal. The carriage is beautifully restored with polished wood and fabrics.There is a toilet on board but as expected on a train, it is small and very low. People with limited mobility may find it difficult to use although there is a hand rail. There is a toilet stop after the mains are served back at the boarding point. The journey then continues for dessert.

Great travelling on a vintage team enjoying a four course meal. Food was excellent, even more so considering the tiny kitchen the chef had to prepare in for 40 people, and service wonderful. Thoroughly recommend.
