Private dune buggy tour for just you and your party
We paid over $400 for our group of 6 for this excursion while on a cruise last week. I had emailed our ship name and time of debarkation as well as the time we had to be back on the ship. We never located the tour guide when we got off the ship. Several locals attempted to help us by calling the number listed on our voucher but got no answer. It was extremely hot in Cozumel and we spent well over an hour in the heat searching for the tour guide. We finally found a local who actually knew the guy and he told us that he was known for not showing up for these excursions. We feel scammed and want our money back!!
To begin with, we had a little trouble finding out where we meet up for this excursion but we were able to find each other! We had 6 members in our group (family) and Jorge was our guide. He was excellent and very informative!! The dune buggy's were really fun and we all fell in love with Cozumel thanks to Jorge!! The lunch was ok and plentiful.
This is the best way to tour Cozumel. There was only my wife, myself, and our tour guide Gabriel. He was extremely knowledgeable about the island as he was born and raised there and his family still lives there locally. He has an excellent background in education which lent to his detailed explanations historically and ecologically at all the places we stopped and visited. Gabriel was also very attentive in customizing our tour to our desires. As an example, my wife studies crocodiles and alligators so he allocated more time in Punta Sur Ecological Park to watch and photograph them. We were so impressed with this particular company and tour we have decided to do an all inclusive vacation just on Cozumel instead of one day from a cruise ship. Thank you Gabriel for making our time on Cozumel the highlight of our vacation.
We had a fantastic day with Gismo and Miguel. There was six of us in two buggy's. They made the trip really fun and were happy to do whatever we wanted.
The only thing we would advise, unless you are going to definitely buy Tequila opt out of the visit to the Tequila distillery (in our case 2 visits) - Although it is very informative and fun, pressure is put on you to buy and the attitude changes towards you when you say you will not be purchasing (not by Gismo and Miguel I hasten to add.
If booking this trip - I would definitely suggest requesting Gismo and Miguel. We had a great day and saw all of the island, with lunch and a visit to the beach (we would have been happier to have more time at the beach and miss out the Tequila visit)
We visited Cozumel on February 22, 2019 and had a wonderful tour. Our guide Israel was already at port waiting for our ship to come in and we easily found our meeting spot. Our guide was friendly, funny and attentive to our needs. He came with beer and water and took us to a variety of places on the island so that we really got a feel for a couple different island lifestyles. We had such a great tour that we will no longer consider booking an excursion through a ship, and will always use Viator.
Our guide Rodrigo was awesome. He did an excellent job and worked with us on every detail. The views from the Lighthouse were great. It was beautiful along the beach as well. The lunch was so-so. It was a short walk to meet our guide.
